What's the Most You've Ever Spent On A Pair of Shoes?
I dropped about $250 on a pair of Finn Comfort shoes about 4 years ago, and they still look and feel great.

not the sandals, I didnt see the sandals, but I need a good shoe to help alleviate the pain I have been having after working my weekend job. 10 hours on my feet. Takes hours for the pain to stop after I get home.

Five years ago, standard Wolverine steel toe work/gig-boots. Got 'em at an outlet store at Ontario Mills. I do remember they were less than a cheap guitar from Sam Ash at the same mall. That was the clincher.

But they were bike shoes, so kind of a specialty thing.

As for regular old dress shoes? Probably about $200 for my black wing-tips. But they're a fashion icon, and I'll probably be buried in the same pair.

34. About $300 for deerskin oxfords in the late 1980s.
I still have them but have worn them maybe twice. They match nothing I own. And they're extremely slippery. Great buy, eh?

The best money I ever spent on shoes was 85 euros on a pair of Mephistos, which you can't get in New York for less than $300. I wore those poor shoes into the ground.

35. I think after tax they were about 125... but that was good quality snow boots, not regular shoes.
Most I ever spent before I moved up to the frozen north... less than a hundred, at least. Unfortunately I have fairly wide, flat feet. So I can't always pick the cheaper ones. Sometimes I have to spend a little extra to get one that actually fits me.

I cringed when I paid for them. But yes, well worth it - I have a ton of foot problems and I viewed it almost as a medical expense.

I'd never shell out that kind of money for a fashion statement.

47. I got the ones without Gore-Tex.
Most of my hiking is in warm weather and I didn't want the extra insulation that GT provides. I'm glad I got them when I did as it seems like no one makes a good quality plain-jane model anymore.

http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___10855

Not too bad for GT boots. I got the GT primarily for the moisture barrier since a sunny, dry day around here is becoming a rarity.

And I agree that "plain jane" hikers are hard to find. I have actually had to go w/ trail shoes for dry, warm-weather hikes to avoid the uber-specialized, expensive hikers out there now. Merrell used to be good for that, but I have been disappointed at their quality of late.

Anything over that, you're paying more for the brand name than for quality.

Shoes are to be worn until they wear out.
