1. We just got back from the beach
a bit chilly down at the ocean today. My daughter's first experience with it, she was not fond of the waves, they scared her. :hi:

as for salt water curing, I used to have major issues with my feet cracking and peeling when I was a kid. When we moved to the ocean someone had told me to go down to the water daily and soak them. My feet healed right up, never have any problems with them now.

2. it was a little cool at MB, yeah.
Mid-80s most days, and the water was chilly. Chris didn't even seem to notice, though, and just plowed right in.

10. that's the funny thing with kids and the ocean
all of them were in the water, and when they'd come out their little limbs were red from the cold water, doesn't bother them a bit. I finally stopped going in at about age 14. I get my toes wet now, and thats it. brrrrrr.

4. Aren't we made of mostly salty water?
It stands to reason, I guess.

5. Zomby Woof likes this
There is something amazingly therapeutic about the ocean. The smell, the sight, and the sound. Give me that and a good campfire...

So very glad that he loved his vacation. It should be one of his favorite early memories. :-)

9. Yeah right. Isak never got stung by a jellyfish from Hell.
Plus, I don't like the foreign way he spells his name, as if he's from another country. The dudes from Brooklyn.

So there, Mr. Dinesen.

25. "Mr. Dinesen" was actually a woman, a Danish writer named Karen Blixen.
She was played by Meryl Streep in "Out of Africa."

26. Actually, 'sweat' would be the cure for that - as in, swim your ass off until
you hit the beach...

14. Were your naked ears tortured by the sirens sweetly singing?
Or did the sparkling waves call you to kiss their white laced lips?

Just curious.

16. Odysseus lacked a preschooler
shouting taunts at the waves in his ear at full volume. He'd have never heard the Sirens.

15. Oh yeah,

Bug bites,cuts,skin irritations,
nasal congestion,etc.

The ocean helps clear it up.

The peace and tranquility of looking
at ten foot waves comes for free, too.

( And yes- I've been caught in one,
several times- still love 'em)

:)

The ultimate singles ad cliche, lol.

It is true I left out the part about dive-bombing seagulls. :o

24. It's peaceful AND powerful

at the same time.

Peaceful to watch,
Powerful to be in.

I was fortunate to grow up on the beach in
Santa Monica, CA. back when moderate income
families could live on the beach.

That's where I grew up, the first six years of my life.
That ocean gets me grounded, again.

:)

19. last time i went to the beach, when i took off my shirt, a crowd quickly gathered,
trying to roll me back into the water.

'they can't breathe well on land!' 'his weight is crushing his organs!', 'pour some water on him so he doesn't dry out!.

needless to say, i haven't been back. :(

does not match, I found this last week, the luminous-white, increasingly bellied guy whose picture my wife repeatedly took holding Chris.

23. it gets worse from the front.
The funny thing is, I'm still right around 165. In the immortal words of Danielle Howle, "I haven't gained weight. I've shifted."
