I told his publicist that if the album didn't sell at least half a million copies, I'd eat my demo tape! And I picked it as the best album of that year because it was "the album Metallica THOUGHT they made."

You do know that they broke up? Dimebag and Vinnie have a new band now that is quite good called Damage Plan. www.damageplan.com . It is another good band that will scare the bejeebus out of some prudish, arrogant republicans.

Which I'm posting in it's entirety on the grounds that I wrote it:

DAMAGEPLAN OFF TO FAST START WITH ALBUM DEBUT AND CO-HEADLINING SLOT
Damageplan, featuring ex-Pantera members "Dimebag" Darrell Paul (guitar) and his brother Vinnie (drums), are seeing their out-of-the-gate success turn into an embarrassment of riches.

After completing their lineup with vocalist Patrick Lachman and bassist Bob Zilla, the band released their album New Found Power through Elektra Records. It debuted at #38 on the U.S. Billboard charts, much to the surprise of Courtney Love and Kylie Minouge, who albums debuted behind it. With the help of ex-Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, they've contributed the song Ashes to Ashes to the movie soundtrack for The Punisher. They have three gigs in Japan this week, and a few weeks later, they'll be co-headlining the second MTV2 Headbanger's Ball Tour with Hatebreed, plus openers Unearth and Drowning Pool.

To top it off, Damageplan have added a very interesting new perspective on the digital music downloading issue. Starting March 8, the Apple, Napster, RealMusic, and Music Match digital music services will have special versions of the songs Pride, Save Me, Breathing New Life and Reborn--each with a vocal or instrumental track missing. This means you'll be able to sing along or match guitar and drum licks with Damageplan...hmm, maybe there's a contest on the horizon!
