Koko Taylor RIP (Oh, no....)
"Queen of the Blues" Koko Taylor has died at age 80. This is particularly sad for me because I saw her at my college in 1992. I danced with her on stage as she sang Beer Bottle Boogie.

 O8)

1. RIP Queen
There will never be another like her. She was GREAT! I had the opportunity to see her several times and she was involved in the greatest Blues jam I have ever had the privilege to witness.
1994, Chicago, IL Cubd Convention. Our hotel was a block away from Buddy Guy's Legends so being Blues Fans, we had to go and see Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson. About halfway through the set, a small but great man strolls up on the stage holding a guitar. It was none other than Mr. Buddy Guy! Him and Luther kicked ass doing "Mustang Sally" and then they looked out into the crowd and spotted...THE QUEEN! They asked her to come on up and do a tune or two, she at first turned them down, but then agreed. These three great musicians did a version of "Wang Dang Doodle" which my ex wife and I will never forget. Indeed, anyone who was there will never forget it. Fantastic!
I bet there is a 2 drink minimum and a $5.00 cover charge in whatever lounge she's at in Blues Heaven right now. This is a sad day for Blues lovers and indeed for humanity.
