My browser automatically closes
Whenever I open up Firefox and I click on a thread on DU it automatically closes, why? I reboot, I shut-off then turn back on same problem happens. Right now I'm using Internet Explorer which is awful, I hate it. Firefox is so much better but as of today I cannot access threads on DU without it automatically closing on me. I hate this stuff, hopefully tomorrow will be a MUCH better day. :argh:

Sorry I had to vent.

3. I can't figure it out for the life of me
The text is so much clearer on Firefox which I like. It seems so normal. On IE the text is so small even if I enlarge and the polls you don't see the bars. Don't get me wrong, I can access DU on Firefox but I cannot click on a thread without the whole damn browser shutting down on me.

5. If you're running Windows
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 05:00 PM by pokerfan
Microsoft recently released an automatic update that modifies Firefox (nice, huh?) if it's installed on your system which gives websites the ability to easily and quietly install software on your PC. Since this design flaw is one of the reasons you may've originally choosen to abandon IE in favor of a safer browser like Firefox, you may wish to remove this extension with all due haste.

A better solution (obviously not possible for everyone) is to stop using Windows.

7. I'm not sure
I got one of those $200 laptops that gather other people's wireless connections. Everything was fine and dandy until today. I'm positive the problem will fix itself as it was rarely a problem before.

8. You might want to see if you have that little present from M$ installed
Not saying that's the problem but with your system wide open you could have picked up anything and will continue to be vulnerable until it's removed, i.e. you should do it anyway. Of course, Microsoft made it very difficult to remove but the instructions are the annoyances website.

6. Go to DU's computer forum -
a great bunch of folks there. Geniuses, as far as I'm concerned. Angels, too. They helped me so much what I got hit by a stealth virus, something that no one else had even spotted when I got hammered. They saved my life, seriously.

Post there. I'll wager you'll get all the help you need, and someone will solve your problem.

Good luck!

9. Is it every thread, or just some threads?
I had that happen to me a while ago, and I realized that it was just certain threads - I concluded that some posters had animations in their sigs that required newer versions of things like shockwave. Once I updated the various browser add-ons the problem went away...
