The mobile Internet makes its way into cars
Just as radios evolved from hulking home consoles into expected accessories in virtually all cars, so may Wi-Fi Internet access break free to become a commonplace automotive feature. That’s the hope of Autonet Mobile, a company that supplies in-car Wi-Fi routers that let passengers use laptops and other mobile devices in their vehicles.

9. Only that, or only when the car is in Park for the driver.
Not that they'll even try to make that the case.

10. Given the amount of time drivers are parked waiting to get thru the toll booths,
probably not!

19. Someone needs to haul the NJ Turnpike people to Illinois
I really like EZ Pass, but Illinois' implementation of it is the best yet: the transceivers hang over the middle of the road. You don't even have to turn off the cruise control--just drive right under one at 62mph.

And then there's Pennsylvania...slow down to 3mph while passing through the toll booth. Ugh.

15. Hmm... the convenience of having a passenger using mapquest vs. the danger of having the driver
doing the same?

My guess is that this will be a convenience for 95% of people. And cause death in the other 5%.

18. I need this
I don't necessarily need WiFi--I have no problems with running cable--but when you get told to go from the parking lot of a greasy spoon in Indiana to the Campbell Soup plant in Ohio, and from there to a grocery distribution center in Texas, Google Maps comes in REAL handy for trip planning.

21. I think the cell phone option is preferable
I think that those who want the internet integrated with their automobile will be more likely to use a cell phone to connect rather than spending 30 bucks a month for something that you can only use in your car ...
