Has to be kid-proof. We have a long drive for family vacation coming up and need some entertainment. :)

1. The Bobs!
I sang "Trash" in a backup quartet several years ago. The lead singer wore a beautiful red evening gown, yellow dishwashing gloves, and a "caution do not cross" yellow ribbon as a sash.

What about stand-up comedy? Brian Regan is clean, and as far as Bill Engvall goes is to talk about his "twins" getting squished and the time he and his early-teen son inadvertenly went into a topless steakhouse.

Have a great trip!

9. Thanks, Bertha. We are huge Brian Regan fans here. Have you seen his
stuff on youtube? Someone did a whole bunch of stick figure cartoons to go with his bits. They are frickin hysterical!

30. No, I haven't seen those!
I am behind the times on Youtube. :(

But you can bet I'm looking him up.

What about John Pinnette? "I'M STARVIN'!"

31. Just yesterday I was waiting to get some food at the Church buffet dinner and my
brain could think of nothing but, "Get outta line!!"

I've got the links for Brian Regan's vids. They aren't all stick figure, but they are all really funny.

4. Have ever heard of Moxie Fruvous?
You might recognise the lead singer (Jian Ghomeshi was the interviewer that Billy Bob Thornton dissed in that interview.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9_avPkF7JA

Clem had a daydream, a daydream from heaven
Picked up the headline, his country was made up of singers
And no more right-wingers
He wakes up to "Homeless are stupid, welfare is stupid
Private investment, efficiency, cool fiscal plannin'"
Sounds like more Pat Buchanan
Back in his day job this afternoon
Unlikely he'll move down to Cuba soon
Reluctant to find he's stuck in the '90s again
Clem reads of the old days, twenty years goes a long ways
"Challenge the system!" Relating is easy on a demo
Now they'll send it by memo
'Cause there's no need for the peace sign, post-republican "Peace time"
Join the parade, wave the flag, tell the world it's your lackey
Abbie Hoffman was wacky
Riding the bike to his foreign car
Burning his mind in his VCR
Reluctant to find he's stuck in the '90s again
Reluctant to find he's stuck in the '90s again
and he's lots...
don't you know what it's like to be lost?
and older... "tears on his shoulder"
real men are BOLDER!!
Soon I'll be 30, I don't want to be 30
I've got some big plans, Goodwill has some big hands
With each new computer screen, the world tells me I'm more green
Buy a new Game Boy!
For the fun and the fashion... just for the passion
Back in his day job this afternoon
Unlikely he'll move down to Cuba soon
Reluctant to find he's stuck in the '90s again
Reluctant to find he's stuck in the '90s again
White lies, rich guys hoarding a big prize
We've got work to do
Reluctant to find he's stuck in the '90s again

7. Never thought of them as being a "kids" band, but I can see that, for the most part.
Might be a few questionable songs like "Kick In The Ass" and "Ash Hash". :)

11. Dread Zeppelin
Hi,
Imagine Led Zeppelin tunes with a Reggae beat and an Elvis impersonator on vocals. They are actually pretty good on some of their tunes, and Tortelvis is cool.

Peace

13. I had some until I read "kid-proof"
That rules out everything I was going to suggest. Voltaire? Right out. The Wet Spots? The name should give their lack of suitability for young'ns away.

Oh wait, Roy Zimmerman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIwiPsgRrOs Kids need to hear more silly songs about science.

And while I'm at it: Schoolhouse Rock. It's a classic for a reason.

Edited on Sun May-31-09 08:13 PM by tigereye

Funny how so many indie bands decided to make kid's songs. Some old band-mates of mine made a kid -friendly EP for just that reason!

How about The Beatles - another big hit with our son. Crap, what was the name of the polka new wave band... Brave Combo- they were fun. Also Bare Naked Ladies have some funny songs.
