39. Cheap is good as long as it isn’t "cheap".
Do you mean you use shampoo as hand soap? Because the PH of some cheap shampoo is prohibitive when it comes to shiny, smooth hair. However as you keep your hair short, it isn’t as much of a factor.

The Karma conversation came from a thread wondering why all vegetarians smelled like patchouli. It was really a joke.

And I think I post some pretty out there stuff.

The funny thing is, years ago when I started posting, I figured one of those conspiracies organizations or secret groups that have bad reputations would have a thing to say about my posting.

Never happened, nobody has ever bothered me, so I think it is all irrational fear, the world is alot better place then most believe. Sure there are some problems, but overall, it gets better every year, and most people are good.

What is your opinion of Lorne?

23. It is part of a bigger point to the show itself.
Edited on Sat May-30-09 12:33 AM by RandomThoughts
Many people see the demon shape of Lorne, or the fact that Angel has a dark side, or even the many other creatures in the show, and scream that the show is about evil, and promotes terrible things.

First I don't fear evil, so I can watch the show, and when I watch the show, I see they are not about evil. If anything the show is about fighting evil with better ways, however they do use violence like many shows.

I believe the point being made is that we all have the capacity for a dark side, we all can make mistakes, and if you can't admit that you have failings, and you can do better, if you can't admit that part of life is facing personal demons that try and get you to do bad or stupid things, then you are not being honest with yourself. And maybe the people in that show are characters that admit they are not perfect.

So back to Lorne, first his costume does not phase me, because the spirit of the character he plays is good, maybe it is some higher point that we all have some bad, or maybe it is just some costume thing, I don't know the intent, but the effect to me is to realize that I have issues also, so I better think before I judge.

I watch the Lorne character, as he tries to help, shows almost more caring then any other character on the show, and his strength is empathy! He is not bad at all, only a superficial judgement of a costume could make you think him bad.

So in some way my lack of fear of evil, allowed me to look at the show. There are some people that would literally freak just at the costume.

So the character Lorne is fine by me, he probably has issues, but the character is more then the makeup that makes a superficial judgement. So even though he has red eyes horns and green skin, I don't see him as bad, or no worse then any other person in the world that also has original sin in them.

Ok now that that is out of the way, Lorne also fits the archetype of the 'team' everyone on the team is a 'one of' realizing the larger number of people in their own group are on the wrong side.

Angel is a vampire, but he has a soul, and fights other vampires. Just like Lorne is a sensitive person from a brutal world, and he does not want to be part of that type of world, and is even embarrassed by it. It is the general idea of making a system right, not just agreeing with what you know is wrong in the larger system. It also makes the point that trying to do right can seem like a lonely thing at times, but the truth is we are not alone.

His skill of feeling the spirit in music, I would be interested in where that idea came from, it is real in my view. Although not in the plot moving way shown in the TV show, but just that music can move a person to better or worse feelings.

Edit: I should add, I flip parts of the show when I watch it, since I disagree with some views on the show.

Edit2: A good part of the show can be summed up by Lesley's speech on what heroes are, they don't accept the world the way it is, they change it.

24. Your writing is amazing. You continue to move me to tears.
I always indentified with Lorne. One of the big reasons is out of all the characters on the show he never had a sexual relationship with anyone. That kind of character I always have respect for, (as long as he/she is generally good). I am a virgin myself and I've never had a boyfriend or girlfriend in real life.

Lorne's sexuality is a mystery, like the Doctor on Doctor Who, but maybe even more so.

I loved the episodes in Pylea. It's an amazing story that he came from a dimension without music, but with dancing.

It pains me that Andy Hallett, the man who WAS Lorne, is now deceased. He was so young and so talented.

And may God give his family comfort in a difficult time.

28. Doyle was only in a few episodes, so they didn't have alot of character development.
But the episode in first season where Angel refuses a ring is a really good one, the conversation on the balcony was deep.

I didn't know he passed away either, I don't really follow celebrity news that much, or fan sites on shows, so did not know that. I hope he finds comfort and peace also.

Like Wesley said, and it is true for every single person that was ever born.

"Then we all die trying"

However in my belief that is just the beginning :)

32. I know that doctrine, its not true.
People can be influenced, by other things, but you still have free will choice.

It is spoken of in many texts, even the bible says the holy spirit will give you words to say. But that does not mean we are not in control of the choices we make that put us in positions to be able to do that good work.

You also chose the source of your thoughts by what you consider important, so even if other forces are at work, you have that free will choice also.

I do not believe we are puppets, but we can be guided and helped or hurt by different forces.

33. I don't think we are puppets, either, but
I think we sometimes feel that way. That's the reason puppet shows are so popular. We identify with the puppet.

Fred to Angel Puppet: "You're so cute."

He hated it. We all know what it feels like to be singled out and made small, puppet-like, so people can make fun of us, control us.

At 4:00 this afternoon, I was in the tiny office
at the store I manage with 3 female employees,
and they had to flip coins to decide who was gonna
operate the SpeakePhone vs. who was gonna shed clothing FIRST.
That was "fun". Very much so.

Long story short: I now own 14 pounds of fresh garlic.
I'm sure that there are REASONS why you don't understand
how one thing led to the other...
those are the REASONS why I don't PM you when I'm having fun.
