1. Can we get the Ice Road Truckers to hook up with the AX Men....
And let them have their own spicy show on Bravo or E?

25. Nice post, uh... Hmm.
Ice Road Truckers isn't terrible, but it shouldn't be on the History Channel.

8. that looks cool
he's definitely back on the schedule.

I'd also let other professors and/or respected journalists produce their own investigative shows, much like Ted Koppel does on NatGeo.

26. Oh, wow! Thanks for the news!
The Day The Universe Changed is IMO one of the finest programs ever aired. It's absolutely criminal that TLC nee The Learning Channel used to show it almost monthly and has now degenerated to a network about home remodeling and toddler beauty pageants.

I'll be checking that YouTube link ASAP!

16. James May's 20th Century...
And more mix of actual documentary type programs. WWII isn't too bad...

I believe that Ice Road Truckers (not a bad program) and Ax-Men (didn't get into it) are programmed onto the wrong channel. Don't know what channel it should be on but I'd create a CETV (Country Entertainment Television) and stick those shows along with some others that are mis-programmed on CMT (and maybe elsewhere as well) on this new channel. CMT can play music vids (as it should) and "History" can get back to the documentaries.

ps. James May's 20th Century has never been on History. It's presently on in the UK on "Yesterday" (local free-to-air competitor to History).

I listen to the Naked Archaeology podcast, same people as the Naked Scientist. Never got a Bible-vibe from it . . .

I gave up on the history channel. Too much Monster Quest/UFO/Bible crap. I want NatGeo back!

30. Scrap anything that isn't actually history,
drop the occult stuff, and lighten up on World War II in favor of the rest of the 100,000 years of human history.

While an occasional Hollywood feature film is nice, they've neglected the whole area of world cinema, which has tons and tons of historical dramas.

I'd put in a world history film/TV show feature and show things like Day of Wrath (witch trials in Denmark), The Madness of King George, the HBO Rome series, Alexander Nevsky, Gallipoli, A Man for All Seasons, Utu (contact between white settlers and Maoris in New Zealand), Eejanaika (popular revolt in early Japan), All the Mornings of the World (17th century France), Black Robe (fur traders in Canada), etc.

I'm perhaps showing my age when I say that I'd like to see "Civilisation" reshown. It's a good overview of European history.

32. I'd have more on space.
I once saw a great show on the early days of the space race, mostly about Sputnik. But shows on the Mercury and Gemini missions would be great along with more on the moon missions. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the moon landing so it would be appropriate to see how far we've come and how far there is still to go with space exploration.
