I saw 'Angels and Demons' last night. meh. Spoilers.
If I had it to do over again I sure wouldn't lay out $13 for 2 'Seniors' tickets.
:-(

I understood going in that a certain amount of 'willing suspension of disbelief' would be necessary, but COME ON.

The whole thing about how the young priest became a helicopter pilot in the Italian Air Force and then saved the day by flying the anti-matter 'up, up, and away' was SO contrived.
I'm glad I didn't waste my time on the book.
And then a fried who was with me, who did read the book, told me that in it the Tom Hanks character goes up in the copter with the priest and 'parachutes' to earth using hi RAINCOAT?
Aw, jeez...
:eyes:

Oh, and the soundtrack was WAY too loud.
See, I'm not part of that generation that fried their eardrums at mega-decimal rock concerts.
I don't know if that was just our theater, or if there's a standard volume level at all movies.
I'm taking ear plugs next time.
;-)

2. The reviewer in the local weekly (Houston Press) pointed out that **SPOILER**
...the killings could have been avoided if they just sat down and used MapQuest. :)

Also, the headline for the review "Holy Crap"

6. Ugh, I read that book a few years ago
Only finished it because I was trapped on an airplane with nothing else to read.

It was just unrelentingly stupid from start to finish. Bad history, worse science being spouted off by characters who are supposed to be world class experts. The Illuminati, really? If you're going to be so uncreative as to drag them into it in the first place, at least try to use either the real history of the group, or work off of the established folklore. Don't just make a bunch of shit up and hope people have a vague memory that they are some sinister conspiracy.

Oh, and the whole "we can't find the McGuffin, even though it is constantly transmitting a radio signal" - WTF? And yeah, the finale was ridiculously over-the-top too, and not in a good way.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna pass on the movie.

7. Oh thank god, I thought it was just me...
I too was in a situation where I just read it because there was nothing else around. Well, there was the junk mail and upon reflection, probably would have been more suspenseful and better written.

I found that book to be mind numbingly stupid.
