Pain is a serious deterrent to a sex life. Grrr.
It's at times like this that I loathe pain pill abusers the most. It's because of *them* that people like *me* are denied pain medication that actually works. I do appreciate the muscle relaxers that help me sleep, but honestly, even prescription-strength ibuprofen and/or naproxen are useless against pain like this. :( Pill abuse is such a serious problem in West Virginia that local physicians are loathe to give opiates to anyone who isn't either horrifically broken or dying. I actually had an emergency room doctor try to send me home with naproxen for kidney stones. I raised unholy hell about it, believe me. Their excuse was that since they hadn't done a CT scan to "confirm" the stones (that time), they couldn't justify anything stronger. I told them that they HAD found blood in my urine, and that if a CT scan to confirm was the only way they could send me home to pass a stone with REAL pain meds, then do the damned CT scan. They didn't want to, because I'm not insured, but I refused to leave until they did. They found a stone halfway down my ureter, of course, and apologized profusely, claiming that sooooo many people "pretend" in order to get pain medicine. How one can "pretend" to have bloody pee is beyond me, but there you have it.
It drives me up a wall, I swear. Back pain is even worse, because there's no way to confirm without an uber-expensive MRI, and they WON'T do an MRI on an uninsured patient unless they think it's a life-or-death situation. Lately, I don't even bother going to the doctor for this kind of pain. It's pointless. I already have Flexaril at home, and they won't give anything stronger to a poor schmuck like me who can't afford to pre-pay for an MRI to confirm. :(
Anyway--hope all is well with you.
