3. the length is impressive, but

he has about a foot of split ends.

He should trim them off, and if he wishes to continue to grow it (which I agree w/ you, you shouldn't care what the neighbors say) he should take about 1/4" off every 6 to 8 weeks.

Long hair needs to be trimmed regularly in order for it to stay healthy and look nice.

9. I didn't cut my hair for sixteen years and it never made it past my shoulders.

What's left of my hair now is pathetic. These days I just give myself a buzz cut before my hair has a chance to embarrass me.

I never got to be a long haired tree hugging freak. I got the tree hugging part, but my hair failed me.
