Edit from 'god bless her' to 'bless her heart'

Cab Calloway - Minnie The Moocher (decades ago) 2:46

Cab Calloway - Minnie The Moocher (Blues Brothers 1980) 5:11

Classic Sesame Street - Cab Calloway sings "Hi De Ho Man" 2:12

Hey folks heres the story bout minnie the moocher
She was a lowdown hoocie coocher
She was the roughest toughest frail
But minnie had a heart as big as a whale

Hidehidehidehi (hidehidehidehi)
Hodehodehodeho (hodehodehodeho)
Hedehedehedehe (hedehedehedehe)
Hidehidehideho (hidehidehideho)

She messed around with a bloke named smokie
She loved him though he was cokey
He took her down to chinatown
And showed her how to kick the gong around

Hidehidehidehi (hidehidehidehi)
Whoah (whoah)
Hedehedehedehe (hedehedehedehe)
A hidehidehideho (hidehidehideho)

She had a dream about the king of sweden
He gave her things that she was needin
He gave her a home built of gold and steel
A diamond car with platinum wheels

A hidehidehidehidehidehidehi (hidehidehidehidehidehidehi)
Hodehodehodehodehodehodeho (hodehodehodehodehodehodeho)
... (...)
... (...)

He gave her his townhouse and his racing horses
Each meal she ate was a dozen courses
Had a million dollars worth of nickels and dimes
She sat around and counted them all a million times

Hidehidehidehi (hidehidehidehi)
Hodehodehodeho (hodehodehodeho)
Hedehedehedehe (hedehedehedehe)
Hidehidehideho (hidehidehideho)

Poor min, poor min, poor minnie

12. I can't name the dates for the few Oingo Boingo shows I've seen
but I do remember one (maybe the best one) at the auditorium at UH main campus, sometime around that era :D

8. Cab's daughter Chris gigged regularly in Santa Fe till she passed away last year
Edited on Mon May-18-09 10:36 PM by abq e streeter
I'm profoundly ashamed to say that I never saw her... one of those situations where she played so often that I just figured I would get up there ( S.F. is about an hour's drive) "one of these days" and then of course, one day it was, all of a sudden, too late. I had friends that played with her too;just no excuse to have never seen her...I'm so low tech that I don't know how to post a youtube link , but if you google Chris Calloway, about the 6th or 7th thing on the first page is a link to a youtube of her in S.F. if you or anyone is interested.
