1. I don't really follow the NBA, but I'm rooting for the Magic.
Always root for a Florida team if nothing else.

3. They look good this year
I was rooting for the Celtics last night(always pick a team to root for, really don't care who wins) and they struggled to keep it below double digits. Whenever the Celtics narrowed it down to 4 or 5 the Magic shot back with a three. The 3rd quarter ended with a Magic 5 point lead and in less then 2 or 3 minutes they were up by 18.

2. I think the NBA powers that be have determined this to be the Cavs year
They want a Cavs-Lakers series with the Cavs winning. That gives "King" Lebron his first title and only increases his sweepstakes when he's up for Free agency in 2010.

6. I'd like to see Cleveland win it.
That city is really long suffering when it comes to sports franchises. But especially I want the Lakers to lose. Can't stand them.

7. Hehe, not alot of Laker love on this forum
I'm the only one that voted for the Lakers so far in this poll. I like the Lakers now but hated them during the Shaq era, they were damn near unbeatable. I loved it when Malone and Payton thought playing for the Lakers would guarantee them the title, Pistons took care of that for them. Indiana has always been my #1 team despite geographical location, there has been boneheaded roster decisions made since 2004.

9. I dislike Kobe Bryant.
I also think Phil Jackson is a hypocritical jackass after writing a goddamned book about how disfunctional the franchise was and yet..he came back.

10. He'd probaly be a likeable guy if we got to know him
Edited on Mon May-18-09 02:37 PM by JonLP24
However he may not but I don't rely on the media on how to judge a guy. The reason why I do root for him is because I want him to prove he can win it all without Shaq. As far as Phil Jackson goes they were likely dysfuctional at the time and they are probaly not anymore.

8. The 45 year drought will be OVER at long last.
It's falling into place.

Almost every team's city in this year's playoffs that the Cavs potentially face(d) have been a massive thorn in Cleveland's sports side in previous years:

Atlanta (WS 1995)
Chicago ("The Shot", 90s playoffs)
Boston (ALCS 2007, ECSF 2008)
Detroit (kept Cavs out of first for 6 years, LeBron's first playoff run)
Orlando (Marlins, WS 1997)
Denver (NFL 80s, Elway)

Time to exact revenge, exorcise demons and bring this God-forsaken, cursed snake-bitten city home a damned TITLE already. Forty-five years without a ring of ANY kind is too damned long.
