1. Slapping at it lightly helps
since you can't scratch.

It sucks. Peeling's no fun either.

It'll be noticeably more glassy once coloured, I would imagine. I am really pleased with the outlines though. :D

Mine barely even stung.

27. Traditional tattoo methods are painless
Have some friends take you out to get stinking drunk, wake up the next morning with a tattoo. What pain?

(I'm with you - too chicken, don't need the pain)

30. Wake up the next morning with a fucked-up tattoo and no blood in you
Alcohol does two things for you in this case, and neither is good: it thins your blood, and it makes you jerk around when they're working on you.

You know, they DO quit hurting just a few minutes after you get them. Don't be a wimp.

40. A decent artist won't work on somebody when they've been drinking.
Bad results and the unpleasantness of working with drunks aside, sober customers are usually a licensing requirement.

43. There's a term for someone who will work on a drunk
They're called scratchers--piss-poor tattoo artists who will tattoo anyone who walks through the door, are cavalier about checking ID, will probably tattoo minors and have no idea how to set up a machine so it tattoos to the proper depth--too shallow and most of the ink sloughs off because they haven't put it into the right layer, too deep and it injures you.

I used to work at Home Depot with a scratcher who tattooed out of his house. Dude didn't even KNOW what an autoclave was. When I explained, he said he didn't need one. "What about your needle tubes?" Oh, he just washes them out in alcohol and they're fine. He couldn't even follow a straight line, and he thought I was going to him? Yeah, right. That he couldn't tattoo was trumped by his absolute disregard for universal precautions. He did, however, use new needles for every customer.

7. Hey, if it is a part of your culture
the way it is with Samoans or Maori, fine. I respect that.

American White people getting zillions of tattoos to prove how "counterculture" they are is a fucking joke. Yeah. It's SO anti-establishment when 40% of the people do it. Make yourself ugly and ridiculous. Those "fashionable" tattoos are gonna look pretty fucking ridiculous when you're 50 and getting deservedly laughed at in job interviews.

9. Yeah yeah, we heard you the first time.
For the record, when 40% or whatever of us have tattoos, then by definition that is part of our culture. And when we're old, old people with tattoos will be normal, since so many of us have them, and we'll probably be being interviewed by  other old people, who will probably also have tattoos.

Yes yes, I know, you don't like our tattoos, our music is too loud, and we need to get off of your lawn. :eyes:

11. I have one tattoo
and have no plans to get more. I have no idea what culture I was supposed to be countering, but that isn't why I got mine. You'd probably find mine ugly, but I think it's hot. It's also in a spot where it's covered as long as my clothes are on, and as I'm sure I won't be interviewing for any pole dancer positions when I'm fifty, I'm not too worried about my chances of employment either.

:hi:

26. I don't have a tattoo.
I would like to get one. But, does it hurt?
where does it hurt the least?
I am pretty pain-tolerant, hardly winced when I got my ears pierced (as an adult).

I am thinking of something not bigger than 4" length x 4" breadth.

33. It hurts a little...
I would imagine the outside of your biceps and the outside of your thighs are the least-painful places to have worked on. The inside of your arm is NOT a low-pain area!

36. A good rule of thumb is if it ticles when you run your finger across a spot lightly, it will hurt.
Also, if it is not very fleshy, it will hurt.

41. Mine felt like it was being scratched on with the end of a safety pin, so
I guess it depends on how painful that sounds to you. Location was the very top of my upper arm. And curves hurt worse than straight lines.

29. You are braver than me, Ghosts
I get one needle-stick every couple of months, when I give blood. And I cringe and look away for that one poke. Sitting still for thousands of needle punches? Yikes.
