1. Wonderful! Someone please tell me...
When poets "slam" do they write the poem ahead of time, and embellish on it at the spur of the moment?

I have a tough time imagining that this guy was talking completely off the top of his head.

2. I think they are
actually written poems, but the performance is what adds to the visceral experience. I found out tonight that this guy was my neighbor. Unfortunately we only exchanged a few "whassups".
