Maybe the crap we are getting from the Reich Wing won't stick. Maybe President Obama will finally use his popularity and turn it against the idiot Republicans, and be more FDR than Clinton.

3. You didn't spoil crap. She was the first filly to win since 1924.
Never quote me the odds, kid.

5. She was not the odds-on favorite
Somehow that term has lost its way, with parimutuel events no longer as popular as they used to be. It's routinely butchered by sports commentators.

Odds-on favorite means greater theoretical opportunity than all other entrants combined. In other words, less than even money.

Rachel was in the 2/1 range all day.

4. hmmmm....
An odds of an event is the ratio of the probability that the event will not occur to the probability that the event will occur . In our example, the event is "Rachel Alexandra will win". We read that the odds of this event are 9 to 5 or 9/5. This means that

Probability (Rachel Alexandra will not win) 9
-------------------------------------- = ---
Probability (Rachel Alexandra will win) 5

This means that it is more likely for RA to lose the tournament than win the tournament.
