6. Wow. Just found out the modern "Ace Bailey" was a 9/11 victim
I went to research the Eddie Shore incident and found this:

7. Oh yeah!
I remeber thinking how odd it was at the time because I had just read about the original Ace Bailey incident.

Hey, it gave us the All Star game.

11. Butch Goring?!?!!?!?!
Excuse me, but where is Butch Goring - who almost singlehandedly beat up the entire Broad Street Bullies teams of the late 70s and early 80s?

15. Gordie Howe - no one would willingly fight him
I saw alot of Red Wings-Bruins games in person in the '50's and early '60's, and there's been no one in the league, then or now, who commanded respect and fear like Gordie Howe. He rarely started fights, but anyone stupid enough to get into one with him usually left the ice for stitches or worse. I remember one night when the Bruins' designated goon, Leo Boivin, went after Gordie, who looked like a big blacksmith on steroids. Gordie just smiled, held Leo out away from him with one hand, and beat the holy crap out of the man with his other hand. When not fighting, he'd use that one arm to clear players out while driving to the goal, like so many flies.

No one messed with Gordie Howe unless their coach demanded the sacrifice for retribution. There's never been another like him.

17. Yeah
The word was that if Howe went into the corner, he came out with the puck.

Greatzky's first all star game was in the WHA and Howe was on his line. Wayne told him he was nervous so Howe said, "When you win the face off, throw the puck in the corner and get in front of the net." Howe fed him for a goal.

"When you win the face off.." Hockey players are cool.

16. Keith Magnusen
But I remember that he taunted Bobby Orr to fight him for YEARS and then one day Orr snapped and BEAT THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF HIM TO A BLOODY PULP!
Johnny Ferguson was another.
Derek Sanderson was one for a few years too.
