Bathtub repair (cross post)
Hi all. I've posted this in the DIY forum, but thought I'd be evil and cross post in case the DIY forum doesn't get much traffic. I'm talking to the builder about this today, so was looking for some ideas:

We're buying a new house and it's currently under construction, nearly complete. When the builders put in the fittings in one of the bathrooms, they nicked the bathtub pretty good, there are 4 or so gouges in the enamel (or whatever the covering is), all deep enough to show metal, one of them about the size of a half dollar. My question is, is this something that should be repaired, or should we insist the bathtub be replaced? I'm of two minds, one, if it can be repaired then no problem, but on the other hand, I don't like paying for a new house with a bathtub that is basically like having one from a scratch and dent store. Can anyone shed some light or give some advice?

thanks!

1. Have it replaced.
The repair may look great, but after a few dozen scrubbings it will start to break down, especially if the nicks are on the bottom.

2. A new house should come with a new unblemished bathtub.
They busted the new bath? It's simple: They have to take it out and put in a new one.

3. Yeah, they should give you a new one...
They can take it out and send it to a reglazer if they want and sell it to someone else, but you should get a new one.

4. Exactly - should be replaced - they can sell the old one at a deep discount.
