This is an odd combination of teams to root for...
I was driving behind a mini van earlier today and I saw stickers for these two sports teams..NY Yankees and Philadelphia Eagles..Now I know, totally different sports but still, thats got to be the oddest combination of sports teams I've seen for awhile..

Oh and it had Maryland tags on it...:)

1. I would be willing to bet that it's a married couple's combo of favorites.
I know people who have his team on one side of the bumper, her team on the other side. That's the only logical explanation I can come up with.

That - or the person is a loon. :7

2. Yeah I figured that was the case
I've always been curious to see a car with Red Sox and Yankees or Dallas/Wash/Dallas/Philly on it..Now THAT would raise eyebrows I think....

6. I know one asshole whose favorite teams are the YANKEES and RED SOX.
I use the word "asshole" because he is an asshole in many respects, but this particular item would have been enough to qualify him for the title.

7. I am not an asshole so stop saying that. I am from Connecticut.
Southern Connecticut, to be specific, where, as inconceivable as it may seem to New Yorkers or Bostonians, the Yankees' domain overlaps with Red Sox Nation.

Tell me that the two best LCS ever played were not the 2003 ALCS (Aaron F'n Boone) and the 2004 ALCS ("Going back is Sheffield... we'll see you later tonight!").

8. Sorry, can't.
Just because they were good series doesn't mean rooting for both teams makes a lot of sense. It'd be like me saying that my two favorite teams are the Leafs and Canadiens or someone from Alberta rooting for both Calgary and Edmonton.

BTW, the best LCS I ever saw was one of the Yankees-Royals series. Can't remember which year because there was more than one, but I'd give anything to have those series on DVD.

9. You've got a point about the Royals.
Again, hard to imagine these days, but the '70s Royals rocked, with George Brett, Amos Otis, Willie Wilson, Dan Quisenberry, and many others not on the tip of my tongue.

Might there not be a similar place in Alberta, around Red Deer perhaps, where the Oilers and Flameouts' territories meet?

10. There are certainly places in Alberta where you can find fans of both teams, but
I'm guessing you'll never find any person who roots for both him/herself.

I have quite a few friends in Alberta, some Oilers fans, some Flames fans, none who root for both. Those who root for one consider the other the most hated team in sports. Now, you know how much Canadians believe the Cup belongs in Canada, especially since it hasn't been there since the Habs won it in '93? Well, in 2006 the Oilers made the finals and every Flames fan I knew was rooting for Carolina. This year, the Oilers missed the playoffs, and every Oilers fan I knew was rooting for Chicago to crush Calgary.

Same sort of antipathy I've seen from Red Sox fans towards the Yankees and vice versa.

14. Being from Connecticut...
every Flames fan I knew was rooting for C*r*l*n*.

anyone who roots for the Karmanos Sucks is dead to me! Especially fans of the team that allowed the words "T*mp* B*y" to be gouged into the hardware. :eyes:

11. Down here I often see
license plate frames that say "A House Divided" at the top,

and underneath the plate - "Auburn/Alabama"!

Probably the ultimate dissonance!

15. I moved to S. Jersey from NYC when I was about 14

I was able to switch over to every Philly team EXCEPT the iggles.

I'll always bleed Giants blue. I think your football team is part of your DNA.

So if I had team bumper stickers, I might have Phillies and (football) Giants.

16. that's fairly common in PA
especially in eastern PA, a lot of New Yorkers moved to Eastern PA since its cheaper. So you have a lot of people who like the Yanks in baseball, but like the Eagles in football.
