Michigan: Lansing, Flint and Kalamazoo!!!!
Edited on Thu May-07-09 12:54 PM by Taverner
The land of my ancestors!

The holy land of the Taverner way!

The Elysian Fields of beer! (not to be confused with Elysian Brewing in Seattle)

And yet the land where I can get a brat, kraut and an IPA all for under $5!

I'll be there in a week!!!

2. The midwest has some damn tasty ales.
I'll be heading there on the 22nd myself. I love Bell's Oberon and New Holland Mad Hatter, both are fuckin' excellent.

3. Oberon is good, and Two Hearted Ale is nice if you like IPAs.
And while I like almost everything else from Founder's, stay away from the Fat Bastard Scotch Ale. ACK!

5. I wouldn't trust any beer named after an Austin Powers character.

And I don't know what happened, either. As I say, Founder's has a good product, and I mormally love Scotch Ale. And that is definitely NOT what Fat Bastard is....

6. I'm planning on being there in
August. I grew up in Detroit. In a weird, strange way, I miss the hot, muggy, mosquito infested summers, the bitterly cold, take your breath away winters........... ahhhhhhhhhh not really :)

8. Say hey for this Michigoose
Don't forget Frankenmuth. Weirdest spot north of Cincinnati and south of Cheboygan, but great brew and brat.

10. High point on the family's social calendar
A serious guzzle and quaff at the Old Bavarian Inn. Mom would drive home. Dad in the passenger seat, shitfaced, singing "Du Du liegst mir im Herzen", me bloated as beached whale in the back seat.

Good times.
