Help me stop shaking please
I have family in Madrid (sister, niece, nephew, grandnieces, grandnephews). Phoned like crazy for half an hour until finding out they're OK.

Now I need something to lower my blood pressure. I never had high pressure, but I'll bet I do now. :scared:

2. breathing can help calm you
Try either of these - focusing your mind on breathing helps to center you and calm everything down:

Slow, quiet, deep breathing - helps reduce anxiety. Try making your breaths slower, deeper, quieter and more regular.

or

Relaxation breathing - helps control stress. Inhale quietly through your nose to the count of four. Hold your breath to a count of seven. Then exhale noisily through your mouth to the count of eight. Do four breath cycles.

3. Go outside and lean against a tree!
I'm serious. Just touch your forehead to the trunk. Embrace it if you are so moved. It will take your anxieties right to ground.

Glad all is well for your family in Madrid (prolly wouldn't hurt to thank the angels who watch over them)!

7. I had a family member that worked in the WTC
I know what you are going through. She got out, but it took hours to find that out - finally got an E-mail because the phones were screwed.

Stretch, take deep breaths, exercise, take a hot shower, give thanks, yell, cry, eat. Repeat as needed

9. Sadness
Seems to me we are doing an awlful lot of praying these days. Much more than we use to. Thank the Lord for taking care of your relatives.Whats going on in Spain that caused this? Are we not safe anywhere anymore?

and I'm so sorry you're shook up. I'm not a bit surprised. Can you go home and relax today? I liked the tree idea. Touch a tree. It will ground you.

21. Maybe I'll do that. Lunchtime now.
Will look kinda loopy hugging a tree in the middle of the street though. Not that it won't reflect reality, but still.
