"Seduction" Tonight's poem at the open mic:
I swore I’d never go down that road again
But here I am like the drunk at the bar, begging
For one more touch, one more kiss, one more drink at your spring.

It was the spring of eternal loving
And I drank deeply
Now, every cell of my body swims in that spring.
And still I thirst

Those were sunny, loving days
I had no idea where I was going
Could it be
I shouldn’t have opened that door.

But you held out your hand so tenderly
I had no choice
Your name was power
And your love held so much promise

You gave me dreams, dreams that haunt me still
I wake covered in sweat
My heart craters and breaks
My body shakes
I turn and thrash in the bed, looking for release, for comfort

And there is none.

For I have been seduced
By you

14. My dear CreekDog!
Blessings on you for kicking my poems, sweetie!

Sometimes the longer phrasing just feels right...

And this time, it sure did.

I felt this one a LOT.
