I have to go back tomorrow
because the judge came into the courtroom at 3PM and proceeded to give a 45 minute lecture to us about constitutional law, THEN he got down to the business of asking the 18 people in the jury pool the "qualifying" questions. Then the defense attorney had his shot. At 4:15 when the defense attorney had finished, the judge excused us and said to come back tomorrow, since the prosecutor had not had her chance at the panel yet. Note, I am not one of the 18, but some of them may be DQ'd. So we ALL have to come back because the judge is a douchebag.

3. I'm envious...
I get called every two years for jury duty like clockwork. They pull the same crap every time. I get put on some alternate list, have to come back the next day, get sent home, and get told that the two days I just spent doesn't count as having served.

I've been through this 6 times now.

I don't mind doing my civic duty, but sheesh...give me a chance to do it!

4. ARGH
that WOULD be worse.

I served in Hennepin County about 10 years ago, and they required the jury pool to report for two weeks. So this is better than that but still... without the lecture, I may not have had to report tomorrow.

5. I think that's a simple case of a judge that wants you to be as impressed with him as he is!

6. I really dislike people who are so enamored of their own speaking voices
that they become overly verbose.
