So what is a "chickenchop"? Is that a bad word?
Edited on Thu Mar-11-04 04:48 AM by Enraged_Ape
I was e-mailing my wife today at her job and my e-mail just happened to contain the word "chickenhawk". I was immediately notified by her company's e-mail filter, MailMarshal (http://www.netiq.com/products/mma/default.asp?origin=ws_Home)
that I was in bad trouble because my post contained PROFANITY. It then went on to list all of the following profane terms which are blocked by the filter:

chicken hawk
chickenhawk
chicken chop
chickenchop

I looked up "chickenhawk" in Webster's and found no profane or vulgar definitions associated with it. I couldn't even find "chickenchop". A Google search for "chickenchop" produced only about a thousand recipes for "chicken chop suey".

Can anyone explain what the hell's going on? (And BTW, I did find it quite amusing that this stupid e-mail program went out of its way to tell me I had sent profanity through the mail, then not only did it use the same word, but it gave me a whole list of others it found offensive!)

1. LOL...
I never heard of a chickenchop.

But a Chickenhawk DOES have the meaning of a man who pursues underage boys.

2. Ai yi yi
As Johnny Carson used to say, "I did not know that."

BTW, I should make it quite clear that I was using "chickenhawk" only in the familiar DU sense!

And here I thought my wife's company was being taken over by neocons.

(But even with that other meaning, is "chickenhawk" really "profane"? I would classify it more as slang.

And "chickenchop"? WTF??)

3. No children on up to page three of google
All google chickenhawks point to Bush and friends.

Other than it was from work I would question the company that makes the software.

4. Our company just installed software like this too. Wonder why.
Although ours is not so restrictive as to block the use of the word chickenhawk.

I'm not one to wear a :tinfoilhat:, but I'm starting to think there's an organized, concerted effort to stop people from e-mailing bad things about Il Dousche.
