Woman claims her father was the Zodiac Killer.
Zodiak daughter?

The Zodiac killer, it turns out, was a Jekyll and Hyde carpenter from Orange County who dragged his 7-year-old daughter along for thrills as he carried out his reign of carnage in the Bay Area 40 years ago. At least that's what the daughter, Deborah Perez, told reporters and a frenzied mob of Zodiac buffs Wednesday.

But the buffs were having none of it.

She claims to have proof: A pair of eyeglasses stolen from the cab driver victim in San Francisco. She also claims to have written one of the famous Zodiac letters when she was 7.

Whaddya think?

1. My dear leftofthedial!
I saw that story, and I wondered. It certainly sounds plausible.

I wonder if her story will be investigated?

3. One would think that there is a chance to match the eyeglasses to
the victim somehow, or to match her DNA to the letter, or to corroborate other aspects of her story.

I find it completely fascinating. That's one of the iconic stories of our time.

2. We went over this in LBN yesterday. She's nuts.
She claims that one murder happened on the way from her family's house in Orange County to her Aunt's house in LA. The murder took place in Vallejo.

It would take at least six hours to drive from the LA area to Vallejo.

4. Anything Zodiac-related is interesting though.
And a six-hour drive is not impossible...

5. Not at all, but six hours each way, plus several hours to eat at the diner, track down the victim,
and do the murder, six more hour driving to the Aunt's house, and nobody in the family wondered where Daddy and Daughter were all that time?

Also, the glasses she claims belonged to the cabbie don't look like the glasses in his ID photo taken a few weeks before he was killed.

8. It'll all go south.
The Zodiac has become quite the cottage industry, has it not?

There are so many "experts," each with her or his own private theory about Zodiac, that even if the real Zodiac was exposed, the Zodiac community would likely be united against whoever it turned out to be. I think the reaction of the Zodiac authors and hobbyists was perhaps more interesting than what the woman said.

9. This sounds like a recovered memory narrative.
I suspect this woman is in therapy with a quack.
