Oxford shirt + Hershey's chocolate = HELP!
Edited on Fri Apr-17-09 02:31 PM by Bertha Venation
I got the chocolate off but of course a greasy brown stain remains. How do I get it out?! I'm running out of oxford shirts! This one is a lovely peach (or is it light orange?) color. :(

(Last month I ruined a yellow oxford shirt by spilling coffee - with cream - down the front. The dry cleaners got the coffee out but couldn't get the grease out. Now it's a wonderful wear-around-the-house shirt. x()

5. laundries suck
good to get your ironing done but less good to get anything sparkling white and clean.

11. I wish your laundry were near me.
My laundry made sure the grease from the cream in my coffee was glued in there but good. :(

2. Shout is really good
at removing stains.

Pretreat with Shout, then launder.

17. I second that ..........
Spray it with Shout, rub it in good, let it sit for a while, and then wash - NOT in hot water, which will set a stain, but it warm or cold water.

Shout's great stuff. Hasn't failed me yet.

Good luck ................

3. Oxy Clean - follow directions
Better than Shout by far. You do know that for blood, chocolate, fruit stains that you immediately run item under COLD water and keep doing so for as long as you can stand standing there? You could soak it too but the pressure of running water helps. Then use Oxy Clean paste. It will even get out old stains.

12. I have heard that about cold water
Unfortunately I'll be unable to do that until seven or eight tonight. Gotta work in this shirt; don't wanna reveal my pink-satin-clad glories to the office.

4. Tide to go, spray n wash, or oxy clean spray (The last got bacon grease out of a shirt for me
not once but twice.)

7. Don't put the shirt in the dryer until the stain is completely removed.
The heat of the dryer sets stains.

13. FWIW, several folks have answered that question on this Q&A page
and they seem to think that Dawn dishwashing soap works the best.
