What is your opinion of Mastodon (the band)........

Everybody's going ga-ga for them, but I don't get it. Yeah, they have a great drummer, but still....

Never heard of them.

However, I will assume they suck because a) at least 50% of their twentysomething-year-old members have dopey-ass beardo-weirdo beards, and b) they're posing for their pic in some basement somewhere.

8. Don't get me wrong............

I saw the video for "Divinations" recently, and I was kinda happy they seemed to lay off the screaming and cookie-monstering, but I still don't see what everyone is going all gushy for. I mean, they're no TOOL.

Not a hater, just wondered if I was missing something.

For metal, I think they serve the purpose without too much screaming or a nu-metal immitation.

They're not horrible. Their first two records were o.k. But it's metal for people who don't like metal or who only like metal ironically, ie. the Pitchforkmedia crowd.
