except she was also very sick, the Dr.s told her she would never be able to give birth. So my mom and dad adopted me. I was 2 months old and I was born 3 days before the end of the Cuban missile crises,and the Vietnam war was going on , So there was a lot going on. When I was 4 years old I told mom I wish for a baby brother and a year later my brother was born, healthy and normal the Dr.s said it was a miracle. So God may be waiting for you to adopt first. The problem is that it costs about $25,000 on average to adopt. Plus I have a history of mental illness, and while it wouldn't stop me from being a great mother, it might stop me from being approved for adoption. I was a "miracle" child myself. The doctors told my mother that she would never be able to carry children to term after my brother died. Thanks for your post. I know that God does care and is looking out for me, but sometimes it's hard not to get sad and angry at the same time.

I have depression, and when my husband left me, he got custody of the kids because he has enough "dirt" on my emotional state that he could portray me as a complete wack-job if he wanted to.

Also, many mental illnesses (mine included) are hereditary. I fear that my sons might wind up being depressives too.

I guess what I'm saying is think it over *very* carefully before you decide to have kids. Everyone should, but the mentally ill *especially* need to.

The concept of an omnipotent God who knew what our lives were going to be before we were even born, but then we have free-will. How is that possible?
Plus, I like to live my life thinking there's some kind of plan, destiny, or higher purpose, especially at times of difficulty or suffering, but then what if it is all just randomness?
