Poll question: Laurel and Hardy or Abbott and Costello?
Edited on Sat Mar-28-09 10:27 PM by nytemare
I think my choice is clear. Although I enjoyed a lot of Abbott and Costello, Stan and Ollie are tops to me.

2. DOH!
L&H for two reelers. A&C for the longer movies. I could never get into M&L movies. When M&L were on TV I thought they were very funny.

3. Belushi/Akroyd or Farley/Spade.
I know, my humor tastes are pretty juvenile.

15. Belushi and Akroyd really had a connection.
I loved the Blues Brothers, and all the other work they did. They truly carried on a tradition that started with Laurel and Hardy, I think carried on to Gleason and Carney to them. Now, I see French and Saunders and Laurie and and Fry keeping it going.

I love the piano scene of down the stairs!

And so many other scenes brought back memories of watching and laughing when I was a kid watching those two on a Sunday afternoon on TV.

11. L&H---------- absolutely NO question!1
They are UNself-conscious, into their zone of zaniness without any "acting." Add Zazu PITTS in there.

ABBOTT & COSTELLO are like local dudes in a neighborhood bar who look FORCED all the time, like they have to live up to their reputation of being "funny."

20. ....
I will say that although I did enjoy A&C, I can see what you are saying. It is sort of like comparing Mike Myers to Jim Carrey. Myers just seems to have a natural funniness about him, where Carrey can really be in your face. I think Carrey is actually very good in dramatic roles, though.

13. This "poll" is meaningless. Everyone knows Heckle & Jeckle are the superior comedy duo.
