Do you find "Straight Plan for the Gay Man" offensive?
I'm talking about a show on Comedy Central that is a take off of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy."

The premise of the show is that a gay man wants to know what it is like to be straight for a week, so these four guys, called the "flab four" come and give him a complete makeover, from clothes, to mannerisms, to appartment. They do this to prepare him for some event where the gay man is supposed to apply what he's learned and pass himself off as straight. In one show, he went to a speed dating bar to have 3 minute dates with a bunch of women, in another show, he's playing pick up basketball.

After the show, the gay man goes back to his normal self.

The "Flab Four" are very nice and respectful to the gay man as they teach him how to be straight.

the show seems to be more about poking fun at straight guy stereotypes.

For example, one of the guys digs decorations for the appartment out of the trash. In another show they turn his bedroom into a mini basketball court with beer advertisments everywhere. He has a referee punching bag and his bed is a sunchair with "Rolling Rock" printed on it. They also replaced all the food in his kitchen with protein weight gainer powder.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen the show and what you think about it?

1. Good times
yeah, I saw it for the first time this weekend and I gotta say it was pretty damn funny. I see nothing wrong with it, but then I think a lotta people nowadays need to grow thicker skin. It's a funny show.

3. haven't seen it
But from your description, it sounds harmless. To tell you the truth, I'm most offended by people who get offended way too easily.

5. Doesn't bother me.
Then again I remember when Jody turned straight (Soap) and when Ellen came with a disclaimer beforehand. It's the Renaissance for gays on tv!

6. Saw the previews...
Haven't seen the show, but I bet it's funny...

My girlfriend is a queer-eye head.... I don't watch it just because I am so bored of all the 'Trading Spaces' etc.. and all those makeover shows...give me some good Discovery Channel any day.

Heyo

8. Can't say for sure. I've never watched it, nor do I plan to.
Aside from "The Daily Show," "South Park" and "Chapelle's Show," I don't watch a whole lot of Comedy Central. (I will, however, watch a bit more of that channel if they produce a second season of "Reno: 911.")

10. I'm more offended that one of my hard drives is the Master
and the other is the Slave. If you choose to get offended you can offended by anything. Relax...a joke or two never hurt anyone. Some of the funniest people I know are gay. They give and take jokes.

13. I expected to hate it, but I caught an episode last night by accident
And, while it wasn't LOL funny, it was pretty amusing. What with the Man Show being on CC, I expected something more offensive. The above poster is right. It makes more fun of straight men than gay men. It was also nice to see "jocks" essentially not caring about the guy being gay.

I won't go out of the way to watch it, but it's totally harmless.

15. Haven't seen it yet.
I'll admit, I was a little concerned about the premise, thinking it was four guys trying to "butch" somebody up. But evidently that's not correct. I'll TIVO it and see.

18. it's a one-joke premise...not offensive, just not very funny
At least nobody pukes, blows snot out his nose, parades around with his buttcrack hanging out or behaves like a severely disturbed child. And there are no talking feces. It's gotten so I can't eat while watching CC. The grossout rate is just too high. Daily Show and Chapelle are about all I watch there any more (yeah the R Kelly thing was kinda gross but it made a point and was still funny) and I used to watch CC all the time. Reminds me of when NatLamp was a funny satirical magazine and then turned into a tits-'n-zits rag.
