What? No one wants to have a strong opinion about something totally irrelevant?

16. Not really
I don't think the average man on the street cares much if a cyclist Darwins themselves.

What cagers mostly care about is being delayed 10 seconds by a cyclist in the traffic lane.

3. But but but I am a hipster.
What with my nerdy glasses, ironic hair, bad beer, strange cocktails and taste in books and music that I'll consider overexposed if more than 15 people have heard of them.

But I always wear my helmet, never bike in black and it'll be a cold day somewhere when I get on a fixe...I don't wanna pedal that hard.

6. I am bike stupid
Does "fixed gear" mean a bike with no gears? If so, that's what I prefer. I have never had the need for ten speeds and could never figure out how to repair a ten-speed bike. I like a nice, simple bike that I can change tires on and oil up and use.

7. Fixed gear bikes are unable to coast.
They were/are designed for velodrome racing. On bike with a free wheel (most bikes) you can stop pedaling and your bike continues forward, on a fixed gear there is no free wheel. If the rear wheel is moving, the pedals are moving. This can make going down hills interesting as the bike gains speed. Also, many riders of fixies forego brakes altogether, relying on pedal back pressure to slow and stop the bike.

yeah, I know.

17. Good to know
Fixed gear bikes sound silly.

I will confess to not wearing a helmet but I use my old-fartiness as my excuse. I know. Stupid.

Ain't no freewheeling in the velodrome!!!!!

On edit... I see that you already covered that in the explanation.... But it doesn't mean that there can't be a good fixed gear flamewar!

12. I approve of Emo Posers being on easy to identify and vulnerable modes of transportation.
Remember kids before opening you drivers side door look both ways for emo poseurs.

(oh and don't worry you can't hurt them they are wearing helmets. )
