At one of the local gay bars- the one that he was invariably in every Friday and Saturday night, so I guess the owners figured they might as well hire him (and at 6' 8" and probably 320 lbs- not too many people would want to get into a brawl with him).
But man, is he ever fighting a battle... They permit 18 to 20 year-olds in the bar (for a $5 cover), but they are not allowed to drink. They enforce this by putting big, black X's on their hands with a Sharpie and telling them that if they're caught with a drink, they get kicked out. All well and good, except that the previous doorman/bouncer didn't really enforce it. The 18 to 20 crowd would come in and wash the X's off and it was up to the bartenders to enforce (which wasn't working). He's been spending half of the night kicking people out to the tune of, "I ALWAYS do this!!!! This is BULLSHIT!!!! They never kicked me out for this before!!!!"
And I swear... Since he started, the bar has become a much less annoying place. Before, you could bank on having some drunk young'un spilling a drink on you as he/she stumbled around.... Now, if they could just do something about having them waving cigarettes around!
