Pleasant surprise of the day...I was able to get my new license in 20 minutes!

Seriously the DMV is no longer a cesspool of bureaucratic despair. Even with the massive amounts of ID you are now required to show, everything moves along quickly, the staff is friendly and the woman even let me retake my photo because I was unhappy with the first one. Hell, they were already calling out my number just as I was finishing up filling out my name and address form.

Is it possible that the Department of Motor Vehicles is the best state run agency in NJ?

1. We can just mail in our request for a new license

and we get a new license with the old photo on it. Weird, huh?

2. Places like the DMV move a lot quicker these days because

of computers and networks. Don't ever try going to the Social Security office in downtown Denver though. You have to wait in line for like two hours, every time, to get a print out of your case. Standing room only. The numbers roll slow. Everytime you leave to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water, you have to be re-screened by security. I just always make sure I have my paper work in advance for my benefits. I waited down there once, never again. Even with an Ipod it sucks.
