8. I thought
You make a film, and watch a movie.

Since when the actors are recorded they are recorded on film, and when its projected onto the screen its a moving set of pictures, or a movie.

9. Speaking the Queen's English
Of course I refer to films as films and garages as garages.

I also call "Band Aid" by it's true British name of "Elastoplast"; I call boots, bonnets and petrol by these correct names. I eat biscuits, sometimes even chocolate ones, and cannot fathom the idea of a biscuit smothered in gravy - oh, and on the subject of food jelly and cream is lovely whilst peanut butter and jam is quite tasty too ...

*wanders off, humming "Land of Hope and Glory"*

10. You mean you don't go to the flicks?
And if you do call them films then how do you pronounce it: one syllable (as is common in England) or two (as is common in Scotland) ?

Oh, and biscuits in gravy: they're not biscuits and it isn't gravy. Biscuits are sweet tasting and can have chocolate on them. Gravy is brown-ish and doesn't have pieces of mystery meat in it. There's no word in English to describe what in American is a "biscuit". Savoury Scone is the nearest term I can describe a "biscuit", what "gravy" can be called ... what do you call that "gravy" anyway?

Mark.

far too many - I used to go to the fleapit to watch flicks.

PS I do know about US biscuits, just trying to get someone to rise to the bait - I am a long time user of the giant wooden spoon
