Help me DU mustang lovers...

I've got a '68 with the straight 6. It was left torn down to the valves and left to sit. The body other than the vinyl top is in good shape, had 3 new quarter panels before it was parked. Been garaged and covered. Any idea of what that would be worth?

I don't have anyplace to store it (yet). But, I do want a '68 something. 1968 was a good year. :)

See if your area has a Mustang Trader. Or, find a Hemmings Motor News at the book store. You might get a sense there.

I would like a project like that to occupy some of my free time, but I think my apartment complex would frown on such activity. Yet another reason I am looking to rent a house with a garage.

I don't know that I could part with something that I had that strong an attachment to. I don't envy you this decision. But, in the end, if someone will take it, and restore it and use it, that's better than it just sitting. Still... :(

9. If I can interject, if you don't *need* the money, keep the car.

That car isn't going to depreciate. Something may well change in the future that allows you the money/space to work on it. If it isn't deteriorating, and it can stay put, let it be for a couple/few years.

4. According to AutoTrader Classics

A 1968 with a 6 cyl, in running shape is selling for between $8-10k.

If there's no rust, and the glass, stripping, tranny, etc are all in good shape, and the engine is complete but not intact, it's gotta be worth at least $3k.

Heaps that go cheep in California would be worth alot more in the midwest where rust-free metal is so uncommon
