It fits.

Breakdown - Seether

The sun is gone and the flowers rot
Words are spaces between us
And I should've been drown in the rivers I've found of token lost
And I should've been down when you made me insecure

So break me down if it makes you feel right
And hate me now if it keeps you alright
You can break me down if it takes all your might
'cause I'm so much more than meets the eye

And I'm the one you can never trust
'cause wounds are ways to reveal us
And yeah I could have tried and devoted my life to both of us
But what a waste of my time when the world we have is yours

So break me down if it makes you feel right
And hate me now if it keeps you alright
You can break me down if it takes all your might
'cause I'm so much more than all your lies

Hate me, break me down
So break me down
So break me down
So break me down if it makes you feel right
And hate me now if it keeps you alright
You can break me down if it takes all your might
'cause I'm so much more than meets the eye

These guys are a real challenge to get into. it took me awhile, and I'm used to the genre. They are so dense musically, and there's so much going on, sounds that weave in and out, that it's hard to grapple with them. Basically, it sounds like a wall of noise and chaos at first, but once those layers start to peel away many treasures await. :)

Two songs...about 45 minutes of music. If you make it through this I'll be amazed. I'm amazed I can listen to it. :)

57. Phil Spector ain't got nothin' on these vatos.
Flotsam & Jetsam meets Meshuggah at the Devil's apartment. (And that's just the first song.)

I LOVE IT.

I listen to a ton of doom metal like Electric Wizard, so I'm pretty much used to the 10-15 minute form. Twenty minutes was pushing it a little, but the song was so interesting that I found myself wanting more at the end there. Speaking of the ending, I thought I was hearing someone making an amateurish attempt at scary ghost noises. But after five or ten seconds I realized that was an army of choral singers. I really didn't want it to end.

FANTASTIC.

67. Cool, glad you liked it.
Like I said, they have a lot going on, and further listens seems to uncover something different each time. A very rewarding listen once you get where they're coming from. One of the best bands going right now in any genre, for me anyways.

And a big YAY to the E-Wiz!!! Loved their last infernal doom blast. After a few average CDs they finally matched Dopethrone (maybe beat it...the new one is excellent).

Check out Yob if you're into the doom thing. They broke up a couple years ago but just got back together and have a new CD in the works. I'm big time into these guys.

36. EELS Hey Man (Now You're Really Living) LIVE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_1cNtZ1h4o

"Hey Man (Now You'Re Really Living)"

Do you know what it's like to fall on the floor
And cry your guts out 'til you got no more
Hey man now you're really living

Have you ever made love to a beautiful girl
Made you feel like it's not such a bad world
Hey man now you're really living

Now you're really giving everything
And you're really getting all you gave
Now you're really living what
This life is all about

Well i just saw the sun rise over the hill
Never used to give me much of a thrill
But hey man now you're really living

Do you know what it's like to care too much
'bout someone that you're never gonna get to touch
Hey man now you're really living

Have you ever sat down in the fresh cut grass
And thought about the moment and when it will pass
Hey man now you're really living

Now you're really giving everything
And you're really getting all you gave
Now you're really living what
This life is all about

Now what would you say if i told you that
Everyone thinks you're a crazy old cat
Hey man now you're really living

Do you know what it's like to fall on the floor
And cry your guts out 'til you got no more
Hey man now you're really living

Have you ever made love to a beautiful girl
Made you feel like it's not such a bad world
Hey man now you're really living

People sing
Do you know what it's like to fall on the floor
And cry your guts out 'til you got no more
Hey man now you're really living

Just saw the sun rise over the hill
Never used to give me much of a thrill
But hey man now i'm really living

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com

By early 1963, Miles Davis was still casting for a new band and this recording accurately reflects Miles' search for his "new sound." Seven Steps to Heaven is the product of two separate sessions recorded during this transition. Davis already had bass player Ron Carter on board. After pianist Victor Feldman, who played on half the set, declined the job Davis enlisted the young Herbie Hancock to fill the seat. The even younger Tony Williams, just seventeen, joined on drums for the second round of sessions. Finally, tenor saxophonist George Coleman, though included on this entire recording, would soon be replaced by Wayne Shorter completing one of the most important quintets in jazz history. For a project borne out of transition, this is a very strong album that moves along seamlessly. More than forty years on, the title track remains intoxicatingly fresh, and all the more so with the warmth and clarity of this stellar remastering. --David Greenberger

Oddly enough, on one track, he berates an audience member for doing something "rude," though it's not clear what it was. The funny thing is the music's playing the whole time.
