I have a small question for you folks who build your own computers
Who thought it was a good idea to make computers that can double as freaking ARC WELDERS?
In my email today is a message from newegg.com about the wonderful new Intel Core i7 Nehalem 2.66GHz 130W quad-core processor they are selling for the low low price of only $288.99 complete with heat sink and fan.
130W? One hundred thirty watts? Surely that can't be right.
Turns out it's right, and don't call me Shirley. Fucking chip pulls 130 watts? HOW? And is this the wave of the future?
9. They haven't let me in the geek clubhouse for decades...
I got kicked out when I bought my first Mac...which was a 512K Enhanced. Half a meg of RAM and a double-sided floppy drive...man, I thought I was a freakin' Bad Ass!
Still, tell me: what makes a chip need to draw that much power?
