How many people love you unconditionally right now.
I have to go with my three kids because they are all young enough to not have too many conditions at the moment. This won't be forever I realize. Other than them, I'm not so sure. My parents love me, but with strings attached.

What say you?

15. My parents, my husband, my brother, and my dog.
They've all seen me screw up--although in the case of the dog, "screw up" kind of means--"failed to render him his tithe from lunch". They adjust to my idiosyncracies. I give them credit for that. I suppose I could do something "unforgiveable" to them, but I think that would carry the idea of "unconditional" past its warantee, implying I gave them cause to stop loving me. I don't see that as a "condition" on their part, though, but like a natural barrier--the point where I (neurotic, drunk, dysfunctional, and no longer caring) became a burden on their trust. Which keeps me more or less (grounded, sober, functioning, and involved) even when things get hairy.

25. I'm not sold on this 'unconditional' thing.
Really, what does it mean?

Deep inside, I know my parents love me more or less unconditionally, but this is an intellectual understanding I came to as an adult when I had more compassion and sense of the amazing variety of human emotions. I didn't believe it as a kid. (My dad's a socially-awkward introvert who isn't cuddly with anyone, period; can't resent him for it because I inherited it from him so I understand all too well! My mom is kind of a Type-A personality: stage mother + immigrant drive to "succeed" + her own frustrated-extrovert dreams = me never thinking anything I did was good enough.) But the love is very deep and very real and will last until we're all dead. It's just not perfect or gapless or effortless or screaming-match-free. Nor is it "unconditional"--and it shouldn't be: if I raped children, tortured animals to death, or then shot up a public place, I shouldn't be loved. Duh. Love *does* have to be earned, at least by the bare minimum of not causing unnecessary tragic suffering to other beings.

I have friends who have loved me for 25 years, even when I was an asshole. But that might possibly be because I loved THEM when THEY were assholes too - and believe me, we all have our moments.

Don't get me started on romantic love; I believe in the early rush of lust, but as a 2-time-in-a-row victim of the 7-year-itch, I'm leery of promises.

I know I loved my last cat unconditionally, no matter how much he cost me in vet bills and security deposits. I know my current cat loves me because I saved her, and as long as I feed her, she'll snuggle with me....and really, I suppose, at this point that's all I ask. :(

28. I don't know. Ive never asked
Im pretty sure mom does. She would help me bury the bodies.

Of course, it all depends on how you define the 2 words involved. Unconditional. Love. What is a condition? IE, would they still love me if they were dead? If not, does that mean remaining alive is a condition?

So, Mom. Dad(though he is more about the tough love, and would always, unconditionaly do what he thought was "best" for me). My wife, though she would not accept or tolerate many things I could do, she would still love me. My sister, though she is a confused soul and has traces of all three of the other mentioned approaches. Probably others.

good question. it made me reflect and actually count it out.

in laws love me, but yes they condition it. what messed hubby up, so i know what you are talking about. there are others i count as unconditional, though they may not approve, accept or agree with choices i make, i know bottom line they love me and always will, i think that is what unconditional love is.

46. I dunno. I don't think about that. Given the choice, it's easier for me to love than be loved,
conditions or not. It's just easy for me to love. Thinking about being loved and all the whys of it requires a lot of energy that I'd rather direct to something I can see and understand: someone who feels really, truly, loved.

I want to change my answer to zero, nada, zilch.
Love shouldn't be unconditional unless it is a love of self.
I love person "A" unconditionally.
Turn's out Person "A" is screwing my lover and is also a serial killer.
Two conditions that could greatly affect my love for them.
