Well-known fact: Conservatives love The Clash.
Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 02:52 PM by Tommy_Carcetti
This is evidenced by the fact that The National Review listed "Rock the Casbah" as Number 20 on their list of the Top 50 Conservative Rock Songs:

Therefore, being known that conservatives love The Clash, and knowing that Rush Limbaugh is an archconservative and the de facto head of the Republican Party, it is almost undisputed that Limbaugh, too, is a fan of The Clash. Likely he would listen to The Clash CDs while waiting in the car as his housekeeper was in the back kitchen of a Denny's trying to score a load of Oxycodone on his behalf.

Given then The Clash often preached messages of challenging authority, The Clash likely inspired Limbaugh to make his recent statements where he desires President Barack Obama to fail.

Thanks a lot, The Clash! You just inspired a fat pill-popping blowhard to desire the President to fail in his attempts to bring economic stability back to the country and as a result have this country fall into a deep depression. I hope you're all proud.

2. That song brings back memories for all these former Young Republicans
who came of age in their "glory years" of the '80s and Reaganism.

I don't think they have a clue what the song's about (or what the Clash was about). Like Reagan wanting to use Born in the USA as a campaign song.

They just remember hearing it played at all those drunken frat parties they went to in college.

3. Yep... I know someone like that.
She was a big Clash fan until Sandinista! came out, and then even she got the message.

4. These same people though "The Way It Is" by Bruce Hornsby was anti-poor people, too.
Back in the 1980s, the Reaganites really loved "The Way It Is" by Bruce Hornsby because he was supposedly putting down poor people, uppity blacks, and the unemployed.

Nice try, Tommy.
