BREAKING: Rachael Ray defends 2003 FHM photos, provides convenient excuse for me to post them here

Rachael Ray spoke to "Nightline" co-anchor Cynthia McFadden recently, and she defended (among other things) her decision to pose provocatively in lad mag FHM.

"I thought if I'm gutsy enough to do this, this is a good thing for everybody," Ray said of being 35 and asked to pose in the magazine in 2003. "This is the everywoman, here she is. And I thought, what the heck? I asked my husband what he thought of it and he said, oh, kinda cool. And I did it and it was the most scared I've ever been and I wouldn't change a thing. I'd do it again tomorrow."

Ray also said her mother "remains furious" over her decision to participate in the shoot, and that she initially thought FHM stood for "Food and Home" not "For Him Magazine."

A Junior/Petite size 3 was for "barely pubescent" girls who wanted to dress like the "big girls", but who hadn't quite gotten all their "equipment" installed yet....

Sometime around the 80's, the goal changed..women were then supposed to start looking like broad-shouldered, emaciated 12 yr old boys :(

She's MAYBE a six in that photo, and even though her weight definitely fluctuates during the season, she has never ever been "porky."

21. that's what I was thinking! Last outfit is incredibly stupid

and doesn't really flatter her, but otherwise, I have no problem with her deciding to pose. She looks cute and/or appealing, which was the point. It's her choice, and I feel sorry for her that she has such an incredibly uptight mother who'd still be mad at her.

And all the moaning and groaning about feminism - isn't the entire point of feminism is that women can do whatever the hell they want, stereotypical or no? Does feminism mean women have to avoid all female stereotypes? To me, feminism allows a woman to use whatever skills or assets she'd like to use for whatever purpose she'd like to use them.

I wouldn't want to see Mario Batali half naked slurping on a strawberry, though. ;)
