1. What?
Is that some joke I don't understand? It doesn't snow in Alabama. Not south of Huntsville, anyway. Does it? Did someone break your state? Well, I mean in ways other than the obvious ways it's always been broken...

2. Y'all can keep that snow right down there, ya hear?
We don't need none of that stuff up this way.

3. It is supposed to start raining, then freeze, then snow
from 10:00 PM Sunday night until 11:00 AM Monday morning. If it wasn't for the rain first, I'd be ok with that. The rain first while it's not cold enough to freeze, then getting cold enough to freeze, then snowing on top of that though? Oh joy. :eyes: It's going to be a sludgy slippery disgusting mess. I'm still going to watch it snow though. :P

9. I would be a bit more excited by it if it wasn't going
to rain then freeze underneath it. I cannot even get out the door without busting my ass when that layer of ice is under th snow. I wish the timing had given just a little more of a break between the rain and snow. Then I could enjoy it more too. I'm still going to watch it. My cats love watching it with me. The whole family watches it. It's like, "Screw the TV. It's snowing!" :bounce:

I just hope we don't lose power. I had freezing my ass off until I can get some alternate form of heat going and then it never heats more than one room. That means posting with clothes on and possibly several pairs of socks. That sucks. Here's hoping we both stay warm and do not lose power. :toast:

11. Posting with clothes on?? Oh No!!
That will be very weird indeed! We are supposed to get hit with "ice pellets" according to our weather alert. Then snow on Monday. We are in CT which is like the tropics compared to where I grew up in Maine. I heard they got a shitload of snow and lost power last week.

I have the driveway from hell in the winter. It is a straight-up hill that is at right angles to the road. Plus, I have to dodge all those dead vehicles parked along the sides. I have 4-wheel, mainly so I can get up my driveway.

Do you guys even have snowplows in Alabama? Hope that you and your kitties enjoy the storm and stay warm!

14. I don't know about Alabama, but I don't think we have any outside the
major cities here in NC, or if they even have any at all. The 4x4 people go yee haw for a a few hours in the daytime and that clears the main roads in my hometown. Other than that, I think they have salt trucks, but no snow plows. I know we don't have those here in my hometown, lol.

My driveway is perpendicular to the road and downhill. So, if I started skidding on the ice, I'd he out in the road and smashing into my neighbor across the street's hill really quick. We all live on hills in this neighborhood. It's strange, but we do. The neighbor across the street's hill is higher than mine as is the neighbor to my right, but the neighbor to my left's hill is lower than mine. It's a very strange terrain in this neighborhood. They didn't do any "grading" to get everything less "hilly."

There is a bonus to that though. The single highest (and deepest) hill in the neighborhood is right down the road. It probably has a slope of about 60 degrees and a drop off of about 40 feet. And it's far enough back from the road, that the kids can safely slide down it in trash can lids and other assorted homemade sleds. That should be fun to watch. :)

5. Hell, I consider snow a good thing, and I've missed 5 days of school this winter 'cause of it.
It is singularly common to me, but I still like it.

I have absolutely no notion of how people function in areas without 4 proper seasons. :P

12. Had this discussion with some friends..
We decided that maybe 2 or 3 seasons would suffice. X out winter. Chop off the last half of fall after the leaves fall off. Knock off the first part of spring during that transitional period where it still looks like winter. White Christmases are just not that amusing. I miss southern CA!!!

huge snowstorm in Tennessee...can't remember which city, though.

8. Snow coming this way too...
... NWS state snow starts 1pm Sunday, snows through Sunday night with 3-7 inches of accumulation possible. This is in central NC: Greensboro.

Time to try out the Jeep's 4x4 mode?

Mark.

13. Do you have to get out to lock in your hubs for the 4WD?
Was in Maine last Dec. after the big big storm that left about 2.5 feet of snow. It was so cold that I couldn't turn the dial thingys to lock in my hubs for 4WD. My 4Runner is still dead in driveway, which sucks, since I can do 4WD without getting out of the vehicle. Well, enjoy the novelty anyways! I could show you how to do "donuts"...

17. I don't think it will get that cold ...
... weather's just calling for a dumping of snow, a bit of cold and then probably melt away very quickly. Monday's low will be 13, but Friday's low will be 41 (high will be 66).

Weird weather.

Anyway, did re-read instruction manual on the 4 wheel drive. Should be able to get it into 4 wheel high mode OK but this Jeep requires you to have the vehicle moving at about 2mph before putting it into Low mode. That'll I will guess I will figure out.

Thanks again, Mark.

15. Ava, you are welcome to some of ours - it wasn't supposed to start till
Sunday afternoon - prediction of 6" by Monday AM - but it was snowing heavily and the ground was coated when I got up at 4AM.

We haven't really had a lot of snow yet this winter, but a lot of ice.

16. I am a little North of you in southern middle Tennessee- I couldn't get to work!
I was supposed to work today but I can't get up the hill to the road! We have about 8 inches on the ground & the county snow plow (thats right, we only have one) hasn't plowed the road yet.
