4. i'm planning to do a big trip to visit campuses
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 05:42 PM by Ava
but i don't need to spend the money it will cost to visit each university if i don't know whether i'm in or not. oh, and it would suck to visit harvard, fall deeper in love with the school, and then get a rejection letter.

23. Are you waiting to visit campuses until after you know where you're accepted?
I guess that's what we're doing here. It costs big bucks to get from OK to the East coast (location of most of the schools to which my daughter applied). We were thinking of visiting some over spring break, but now I don't know if that will be possible (hubby's job), and I also wonder if it wouldn't make it harder to see some of the places then get rejected. On the other hand, the mad scramble to visit schools and make a decision all during April doesn't sound appealing either...

She did get accepted to one of her safeties the other day, so that takes away some of the anxiety.

Agree that this last month or so of waiting is TORTURE!

24. i'm waiting
it'll be a long road trip in April for us. I have been accepted to one of my safety schools and one of my top choices. The one that is a top choice invited me to come up in March and tour the film facilities. We will probably go ahead and take that trip. Having offers from a school or schools to fall back on really does take away a lot of the anxiety... I'm still hoping to be celebrating in April though, and if I'm accepted at Harvard I will likely be in Boston come fall. It's a nervous time! but I'm also happy to know that no matter what I'm going out of state and to a school with a good film program.

But, until I hear from Hahvahd and some of my other top choices I'll remain nervous. ;)

5. It doesn't have to be the beach and 24/7 drunk to be spring break.
You do need to clean out your brain though. Spend a day at the movies. Or rent some movies and invite some friends to have a marathon movie day at your house. Do something fun that will take your mind off
watching the inbox/mailbox.

25. It's important to learn how to relax--not just be distracted from stress.
They are two different things.

33. i know how to relax
Edited on Thu Feb-26-09 04:30 PM by Ava
but what relaxes me just might be different than what relaxes you

honestly, when i'm editing i feel at ease... much more so than when i'm "hanging out with friends"

i have down time, but i'm someone who likes to stay busy too.

11. You've got to be kidding me.
You're finishing a full length documentary? WTF. You're making the person I was at 18 look bad.

I organize viewings and small festivals of political films in my town so I'll have to show yours when it's done.

7. You bring back memories of when I applied to law school, Ava.
Edited on Thu Feb-26-09 12:39 AM by FKA MNChimpH8R
Every damn day I would run to the mailbox to see if I'd received the THICK envelope from one of them. Eventually I did, from nine of the ten schools i applied to. Only one thin envelope, but it was from the school I most wanted to attend: Yale. So I had to settle for my second choice, not that it was that much of a sacrifice. It was Harvard. :P

I applied for transfer to Vanderbilt. I've got a damn good GPA and an impressive schedule and extracurriculars, but my high school resume was solid and nothing more. Good luck to you.

Just so they know how many spots they have to fill. They're sending rejection/acceptance letters April 15th, so I might already be home for the summer when it comes.

Maybe the same will hold true for Vandy. Good luck to you.

19. a lot of times the school would like you to visit first
then they can interview you and you may have a better chance of getting in. my son visited two schools ahead of applying to them. he was interviewed by the admissions office at that time.

If you get frozen then the time will pass instantly when wake up.But the problem is that if

you go alone to the mountain who will revive you? If you plan to go along with this then send me a

PM to tell me where and when I should meet you with warm blankets. :)
