DU Ladies: I need your help!
My bras no longer fit very well, and I need to be re-measured.

Do you have any stores that you highly recommend for this?

I haven't done it in years, and always dreaded doing it...

But now, I feel I need to have some help...

So...

HELP!

Thanks!

:P

2. Honest to goodness, my favorite place is Frederick's of Hollywood.
Their fitters have never failed me.

I am un-gifted in that area, but even my overly gifted sister (double D) goes there and she's not a slender woman by any means.

Hmmm...Frederick's?

It's kind of far from me...

I am un-gifted too, so...

Well, I appreciate your very kind suggestion!

Thank you, sweetie!

7. I swear by Victoria's Secret bras because their sizes are accurate
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 12:29 AM by Muttocracy
You can measure yourself with a sewing tape measure. Other brands of bras I've tried on can be +/- (usually -) a couple of inches on the band size. Even across different styles VS is pretty consistent.

http://www2.victoriassecret.com/braguide/howToMeasure.cfm?rfnbr=5373

Their stores have nice fitting rooms. I love that their stuff is sorted by size - I just go to the styles I like, check the drawer for my size, and no struggling with those stupid little lingerie hangers. I've never had help, but I think they will help if you ask.

9. My dear Muttocracy...
My daughter also recommended them...

I don't want anything fancy or lacy...I like plain, and front hook, underwire...

And they do have a store near me...

I'll check 'em out, and thank you!

10. Lace is itchy!
I like their really plain cotton stuff, but I couldn't find it last time I went shopping. Got some other fabrics. It's still in their online catalog though. I buy their cheap or moderately priced stuff, and it lasts a lot longer than the stuff at Target.

11. A campfire?
Since I had mine reduced, bras only make it to my body when I ABSOLUTELY have to. I burned most of my oversized slingshots. I should have converted them into "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" style curiosities/novelties and sold them.

13. Victoria's Secret, definitely
Go sometime when they're not horribly busy (mid-day, mid-week is perfect) and they'll fit you in minutes. The best thing about Victoria's Secret is that they have SO MANY choices...lace, no lace, wire, no wire, different sized straps, etc. And the woman who fits you will also help you decide which style you should try.

Hey, welcome back to civilian life!

And thank you for the recommendation!

There's one near me in the Manhattan Village Mall...

Looks like I'll be going over there, maybe next week!

I know which style I want, but the fit! Yikes.

Thanks again!

16. Since you're in LA, go to Frederick's or Victoria's Secret...
OR, if you want to splurge, find a lingerie store that sells La Perla.

But - I LOVE the Victoria' Secret "Ipex" line - very comfortable, yet still very pretty.

23. Well, they have always made my tits comfy.
The one time I went for a "fitting", she stuffed my tits into something. In the first place, I did not appreciate my tits being handled like that, by a stranger.

And it turned out, I was recommended for the same size I was already using! I don't think I need to be abused tit-fully again to figure that out.

Good luck.

24. My dear CaliforniaPeggy!
Go to Nordstrom. They will treat you like the goddess you are, and you will walk out of the store in a bra that fits and is gorgeous!

They have people that are trained in the bra fitting. It's AMAZING.

In the meantime, my husband said that he'd like to take that up as a career. :woohoo: I told him that was just fine, as long as I could spend my days entertaining my favorite professional football player. LOL!

25. Call the local department stores
And ask if they have a "bra lady". I've always wondered how one trains for that profession, but the ones I've dealt with have been great.

32. I have had excellent results at Dillard's. Macy's, Nordstrom's and the other
large dept store chains all have trained fitters. I happen to like Dillard's because they have an excellent line of 'in house' lingerie that is quite moderately priced and every bit as good as the name brands. Even in large cup sizes .

I am trying to remember the name of the bra shop my daughter took me to in Arizona; it is a chain but not Victoria's Secret. Their fitters were excellent.

When I went out to hunt for this store, the Google gave me tons of hits.

but they have a place in Tulsa called the Bust Stop.

I gave up regular bras years ago. When I absolutely have to wear one comfort is my priority so it's a cotton sports bra for me these days.

36. It may be strange to you
but years ago I was having same problem you have until I found bras that really fitted me to a T and very comfortable, too. Plain, yet feel sexy. Guess where? The most hated place....this place of all places... Wal-Mart! I doubt they still sell those. That was back in 2000 when I found them in Miami when I still worked and lived there. They were stretch type yet strong with wires under. Brand name is Bedform. Latch is in front, not back which makes it easier. I still have several of them which are still good!

38. Here's an online bra size calculator
Measure yourself, plug in your measurements and voila! It works very well and will give you your bra size in several countries. :silly:

I prefer Wonderbras. They fit well and are very comfy. They definitely provide the lift; I always get compliments on my bustline ;-)

I like Bali bras. Comfortable!

(Oh! I do have something to say! Went to an outlet mall mega major brand bra store a few years ago, and they have fitters there. Great place to get a fitted bra because so many designs to fit are there! ;) )

was all sorts of information about how to sew swimsuits on the internet. I'm sure you could get instructions there.
