Does your pet indulge in bad behavior to get your attention?
Because it seems my cats know exactly what they shouldn't do and do it right in front of ME! This includes knocking things off of counters/nightstands and recently getting into the trash! Even though they run away after I yell at them, I still get the feeling the little fuzzy monsters are thinking "mission accomplished" as they run away..:eyes:

1. If you mean like pooping in the middle of the dining room
and not budging even when I'm yelling at her, only running away after she's finished her bidniss, then the answer would be "yes".

I'm still trying to figure out how having a hairball and not being able to hork it up gives her the right to express her frustration by pooping in public places, but apparently the line of logic works for HER. :eyes:

I. Am. So. Glad. We. Have. Hardwood. Floors...

5. Well, two out of three do use the boxes
This particular kitteh is as neurotic as they come. Traumatic kittenhood, apparently. We're not sure what happened to her, as she was a rescue--a friend found her in her neighborhood and begged us to adopt her. She was down to 4 lbs. when we took her in, and we all thought she was a kitten, but after the vet examined her, we found out she was 3 years old! So she didn't have very good survival skills.

She also is a nervous wreck in general, and it doesn't help that our other female uses her as a chew toy. Over the years she has made it quite clear that she wants to be an only kitteh, but as that ain't happening any time soon, we're subjected to her neuroses on a daily basis. Whee.

Huckleberry has a habit of getting up on my desk behind the monitor and messing with all the cables. He's knocked the router and the speakers off the hutch more than once. Whenever he starts doing this, I shout "treats!" and run downstairs to fill their treat dishes in the kitchen, in the hope that I can prevent another catastrophe. Tommy doesn't engage in the cable vandalism but he always seems to be lurking somewhere nearby. Yes, I think they do this just for the treats.

7. My dog engages in behavior that he thinks is fun
I took him for a walk in the woods by Lake Mendota this morning. There are lots of men ice fishing- he ran out to visit a few of them. And he picked up a discarded frozen fish and ran around with it. He wouldn't drop it, so I had to leash him and throw it away. Next time we go out there he'll head right for it.

8. Sunday Girl will look at me to make sure I'm looking at her first,
then, she will put her paw on top of one of my knick knacks and topple it. If I don't jump to attention at that point, she'll start rolling it closer and closer to the edge, stopping to look at me along the way just to make sure. If I don't get to her and pick it up, she WILL give me one last long look, then slowly roll it off to hit the floor...on purpose.

12. Do they get an overly satisfied look after they do it too?
Sunday Girl sure does. She knows she'll eventually win. Plus, she takes notes on which knick knack makes me get up the fastest to stop her. That's the knick knack she STARTS on next time she wants something. My cats routinely outsmart me.

11. Evie piddled on the bed right in front of us once
Evidently, I should have shared my breakfast bar.

It was kind of hilarious, because she stepped to the edge of the bed, and lowered her rear, but not all the way, while half of my brain said "wow, isn't that the configuration they use when piddling...?" and the other half of my brain said "OH NO SHE'S GONNA GO!!"

And then she went.

The first night home after being boarded while I was on vacation. Apparently he did not like being boarded because he jumped on the bed after I got in to go to sleep and peed while I was scratching his head.

I was ready to abuse both of them yesterday

Tansy knocked over a pottery jug on my bookcase and broke it and Lilith was running around like a crazy cat all day . I think they have cabin fever because it has been to cold for them to go outdoors.

If anyone poops on the floor it is going to be the last straw

21. My dog does his "got to go out dance"
Sometimes as soon as I start breast feeding even if he's been hanging out in the same room for me a long time before. He will pee on the carpet if I continue to feed my baby in less than 5 minutes. If I am not breast feeding or otherwise engaged with the baby and doing something else, he is more patient and won't pee in the house so quickly if I don't get him out immediately.

31. Yes, absolutely
he pretty much only does objectionable things in order to get my attention.

the only time he scratches the sofa is when i'm sitting there and he's looking at me the entire time. little sh*t.

had a dog that i caught digging in the yard. she was digging quietely, somewhat discreetely then she looked up and noticed i saw her...AND THEN she began to dig with wild abandon, flinging the dirt so hard it hit the back fence, gyrating her whole body and just basically saying "f-you" to me. :wtf:

42. Our girl got herself in a fight.
She had to have stitches on her face. She is so smart that she just wouldn’t wear the collar meant to prevent her from scratching. I would scold her every time she went to scratch and apply warm compresses to comfort her. Well, this once I scolded her. She looked me straight in the eye and went SCRATCH! SCRATCH! SCRATCH! Just like that. All I could do was shake my head, laugh and hug her.
