Totally shocked me too, since vampires are big right now, and the show, while it didn't have fantastic ratings, did have growing ratings, so it seems stupid to get rid of something that was bringing in more viewers.

I wasn't that impressed when it first started.... it seemed... Vampire Lite, somehow. But it was interesting enough to keep me watching every week. Then, it got really good. Everybody found their footing and the characters started to really fill out.

But they cancelled it right as it would have taken off! x(

I'm not a fan of vampire stuff, but I feel your pain. The networks are making some damned stupid decisions as they hide behind their complaint of economic hardship. Pretty soon it's going to be reality shows and game shows--oh yeah, and primetime Jay Leno--24/7 on every channel. :(

Not to mention the ratings system is so outdated. The people who loved Pushing Daisies didn't necessarily watch it live--lots of online viewing and watching it later on the DVR, neither of which gets counted in the official ratings (IIRC). So the eedjits who looked only at the ratings numbers and saw it "sucked", especially in relation to how much it cost to produce, dealt it the death blow.
