So I had dental surgery, and at least SIX people
have bypassed any sympathy for me, and just asked me about whatever drugs I got! At least two people WANTED them! My prescription, that I paid for. I haven't taken one pill, and you'd think I had a bottle of winning lottery tickets.

What kind of person would 1) not care that the person who had surgery might be in pain, and 2) ask someone else for pills from their prescription?

Was I just raised in a parallel universe? No one in my family would ever, EVER, ask someone else for their prescription drugs.

1. So, what kind of pills are they?
Are you gonna use 'em? I'll pay you for them. :hi:

4. How do people even take that stuff?
I had previous dental surgery about ten years ago and the pills were so strong, I had to slice them up into pieces to take them, and even that was too much.

It makes me think that half the world is high on prescription drugs - or wants to be.

3. I take seven different medications every day..
and everyone once in a while when I am coming home from the pharmacy on the bus, a stranger will ask if I have any pain pills.

6. They are
and I don't think they realize they are doing anything unusual, much less wrong. Which makes me think that a lot of people are passing prescription drugs around (not to mention getting prescriptions they don't need).

I'm no Christian Scientist, but c'mon people! Let they body heal thyself, for cripe's sake.

7. And the weirdest part of the story is that all six people
were really Rush Limbaugh in six different disguises. ;)

10. i'm sorry you're hurting
and i'm sorry that you're dealing with some inconsiderate people.

i will joke with my friends about not sharing their pain meds with me, but i would never actually ask them to give me any. i think asking someone for their prescription meds is a tacky thing to do.

i hope you feel better soon

11. I'm sorry about the surgery. How are you doing?
My mom has had numerous dental surgeries over the years and she experienced a lot of pain from them. FWIW, it would never occur to me to ask someone for their pills either...especially after they went through surgery. That's pretty tacky.

A good friend of mine discovered his brother was stealing his anxiety meds. My friend was diagnosed with agoraphobia and struggled with his anxiety disorder for years before he finally got help. He truly needs every pill just to maintain. I was livid when I found out.

13. I'm reminded of the scene in "Airplane"
where someone asked if anyone on the plane had a Valium. Virtually everyone held up a purse or a pill bottle.

Lots and lots of people are taking lots and lots of drugs.

Because, you know, internet people, sure, real people, that's odd.
