Poll question: Are you an introvert or an extrovert (or other)?
If neither, please explain.

I really liked all the responses to my "what are you like IRL" thread. I hope there are more.

1. Right on the line.
I'm a reasonably outgoing, chatty extrovert that needs a fair amount of decompression time.

5. Thought provoking question so early........I like it !
I'm definitely more of an introvert.

I am in no ways passive agressive, but I am very laid back,
shy at times, and tend to pick friends who are more outgoing
than I am.

Although I have to say,as I get older,I am becoming more of an
extrovert.

Honestly,it seems that most people that are extroverts have
type A personalities,and I am definitely a type B.

6. Introvert at home. But when facing a group of people, such as when
I was a musician and on stage, or at a business meeting to present a proposal, it's Instant Extrovert. Give me ten minutes, and I'll OWN any room full of people.

7. I'm a very outgoing introvert. ;)
It's more along the lines of the amount of "solitary decompression time" I need. I'm very witty and funny, as well as a very good public speaker, but then I like to hide from the world for a bit each day.

and quiet people sometimes are really extroverts. Because of the way they were trained growing up or their life experiences. I talk as much as anybody else but it is exhausting to be around other folks. After much testing i was consistently shown to be introvert. Myres-Briggs INTJ

14. Definitely introvert
I can fake extrovert for a period of time, but I always wind up having to catch up on my introvert time afterwards. :silly:

The bad thing is, as much as I accept this about myself, I'm sure it's harmed my professionally. I still don't know how to reconcile being an introvert with needing to make a living.

15. I'm definitely an introvert, no question.
Although I am relatively comfortable socializing with and being around other people, doing so for extended periods wears me down. I regain my energy and refocus by being alone, which is the only time that I'm truly, 100% comfortable.

Very shy off-stage and sometimes even on....usually( not always) would rather find a quiet corner and read a book during breaks than schmooze with the audience

25. I'm an ambivert
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extraversion_and_introversion

Ambiversion
Although many people view being introverted or extraverted as a question with only two possible answers, most contemporary trait theories (e.g. the Big Five) measure levels of extraversion as part of a single, continuous dimension of personality, with some scores near one end, and others near the half-way mark.

Ambiversion is a term used to describe people who fall more or less directly in the middle and exhibit tendencies of both groups. An ambivert is normally comfortable with groups and enjoys social interaction, but also relishes time alone and away from the crowd.

I'm sure I am one but I need human interaction every single day or I feel sad.
