OK.. Sell me on a new TV drama
I only watch two. They both suck now. West Wing and ER. ER has sucked for years, but I started watching it when it began, and I just keep doing it. Then I hate myself afterward.

My quirk is that I HATE watching dramas unless I've seen every episode. I feel left out, like I missed something important.

So what great dramas are on the tube now that I could start watching in the middle and catch up on pretty quickly?

2. I don't know how much you'd be able to catch on...
...this late but "American Dreams" is an excellent show. Give it a try.

3. Alias
I love it.

Only thing -- you sorta need to have watched it from the beginning to really understand it. But the first two seasons are already out on DVD so you could get up to speed quickly.

And I think it would still be compelling even if you just jumped in and started watching.

4. Do like you like Crime Drama?
I enjoy CSI..the original, not Miami..David whatshisname is so annoying it's just not worth it. The original Law & Order and SVU I like as well. That's regular programming, if you have HBO, well..Carnivale, Six Feet Under, Soprano's.

11. My boyfriend watches CSI
and loves it. I just haven't seen it.

I've heard nothing but great things about Six Feet Under. Is it something I could start watching in the middle?

12. Well, yes and no...
it would be nice if you could catch the first 2 seasons to get to know the characters, but I love this one. Dark and brooding with some weird stuff for spice.

5. CSI
Not CSI Miami (which sucks on ice) but the original. Imagine "Mr. Wizard" directed by Hitchcock...intriguing characters and excellent mysteries.

I'm also fond of Smallville...Clark Kent as a teen before he's decided to be Superman. It sounded like a terrible idea but it's one of the best things on, and uses the mythology in an inventive way.

Law and Order: Criminal Intent...Vincent D'Onofrio and Katherine Erbe are great!

The Handler (hope it hasn't got canceled): Joe Pantoliano and some good young actors do something like "Mission Impossible," only with more character development.

7. Man, I thought this would be a thread where people pitched ideas
for new TV dramas.

8. The Sopranos is the only TV drama
I watch anymore. I tried Kingdom Hospital last night but I don't
think I'll be back for that one. There is a new show to start on
March 16 called Century City about lawyers in the year 2030. I will
try that one because Ioan Gruffud is in it and it is being produced
by the guy who did Homicide and Oz. It's a desert out there, so I read
books.

10. I watched one episode of the Sopranos
awhile back and it just didn't grab me.

But I did watch Oz for awhile and thought it was really good. I'll check out Century City. thanks.

9. Without a Trace and Cold Case
Wihtout a Trace had a wonderful anit-Iraq story line last week. Cold Case is just wonderfully done with flashbacks and great music.

14. My husband watched the new Stephen King drama that started last
night and said it was really good! He generally does not watch television at all but he is hooked after the first episode last night. I guess you would have to have an interest in Stephen King type literature to enjoy it.

I guess the story line will carry over from week to week.

I will watch it next week and see what I think.

15. Okay, not a crime drama but there's a forensic crme show that smokes....
I think its court TV or Disc. channel. They document cases that have been reopened due to new forensic techniques. They use real court room footage and interview detectives. One doctor suspected of molestation was forced to give blood for a DNA test several times. Each time, he surgically inserted a tube of some one else's blood in his arm so test would not match. They showed real video of the actual DNA testing. It was riveting.
