Agh! I will have to send the IRS a check this year!

For the first time in my 34 years on earth I will have to pay taxes this year, meaning my usual meager tax rebate somehow got inverted into a big freakin' tax liability. Dammit, I need to have some more kids to get more credits... I guess this will be the first time I file for an extension too. I feel so grown up now.

I also have to get a SS refund from my main employer, which means they may have to find out about my completely non-main-job-related freelancing on the side. That should make for an awkward conversation with the boss.

... We screwed up our witholdings for 2008...

My wife got paid about $30k but only had $400 witheld in tax.

Even I didn't withold enough.

Good job IRS will allow installment payment, even though it costs more. Eurgh :(

Hopefully Obama will give a stimulus package that will reduce the tax burden. We didn't learn from 2007 and Bush's tax rebate helped us meet our tax obligation.

If Obama does something similar, then maybe you get some money back after all - albeit a smaller stimulus check instead of having to pay?
